$196.00 to hook up the "book" and give me a diagnosis on why the
"Un-Holy Three", ABS-TC-HDC lights, are on  !

I know its only going to either the ABS Mod or the ABS Sensor. The parts guy said that there are only 2 sensors. 1 for the front and 1 for the rear, is this correct? I thought that there would be four. If I remember right, each sensor was about $60. If I just go ahead and replace the both of them, the whole job is going to be $120. Far more cheaper to hook up the freaking book!

Sorry guys, I just had to vent. How can they justify a cost like that? I've seen the mech's at the shop and it doesn't look like they are pulling 60K a year, and how hard is it to hook a couple of wires to my truck and get a read? Crap I tell ya!

Do they not apply that $196 towards the actual repair costs? That is how the dealerships I have worked with operate at least.

I got the dealership here to hook to mine and enable the front fogs etc for $25. I approached the shop foreman and said "if you'll do 5 minutes on my truck with the testbook, I'll buy the whole shop pizza" and since I made sure everyone could hear me, the peer pressure was amazing. 5 pizzas for $25 and I got my stuff done. Think outside the box... :D

Nice idea. I'll see what I can do. I have to get passed the two gold chain wearing, gold rings on each finger with fresh pressed poly-suit counter guys first. The garage, with the hidden garage foreman, is behind the service counter and the garage door is semi-protected by a gated fence.

I have to see if my Super Mario Bros. skills still work.

r u serious! What is the make and model of the reader? I used a friend of mine's code reader and nothing popped. I would like to know which one you used so I can run out and buy one, beacause I would like to know which one is throwing the code?

Sensors

There are four sensors on your vehicle, one at each wheel. There may only be two different part numbers though, 1 rear and 1 front.

Dominos has 5 for $25... I hate their pizza, but it's typically good enough for bribery work. It's Ledo's or Vocelli's for me... :D

Don't forget that testbook is about $10k right. Plus the labor rate here is $75 PER HOUR I'm sure it's more out West. Still is hard to swallow a major bill just to find out what is wrong.

I think Testbook is up around $20K! The local dealership charges about $100 to read codes. Not sure if they take it off the repair bill, I doubt it here...

Actually the per hr labor rate here in San Diego just broke the 3 figure mark. Fucking joke. Didn't you ask these idiots how much it was going to be BEFORE you told them to read the codes ??

I deal with shops across the country. The most expensive I have seen is a Ford Dealer in San Fran for $145 a hour! That 2.33 dollars a MINUTE! Phone Sex money. ;)

Do you still have the make and price of your code reader, 'cause if you bought it at Wal-Mart, we've got the 24hr Walmart around the corner. I ready to go right now.

And No Agro, no I didn't pay them to test my Disco. They can use somebody else's money for their gold chains.
