Axel,
If you like Wakeman, check out the Strawbs. Everyone started somewhere... These guys rocked, and still do on occasion.

I have always liked Wakeman, he was a big influence when I decided to take lessons and got a keyboard setup back in the day. I'm nowhere near his talents and suck live, but at least I learned enough to be able to put together the soundtracks for the Dweb videos..... :ack:

I finally met him when he was signing his latest CD in NYC a couple of years ago, he is a funny guy, and took his time to talk to each of the fans in line:

Me: "Nice to meet you, I have been listening to your solo work and Yes since I was a teenager."

Wakeman: "You can get help for that now, you know!"

It is damn near impossible to list just one band as an all time favorite but here goes mine:

Little Feat

This is true. While I do put Yes on top of my list and try to catch them whenever they hit the NYC area, there are others, too. I also like classic Genesis, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Pink Floyd et. and I have a few favorite Norwegian bands as well.

Allthough in a different genre, another band that always puts on a good stageshow and give you your moneys worth for your ticket dollars, is Poison. They are doing a 20th anniversary tour this year.

The Cult. That was easy.

Just saw Riders on the Storm in Dec., great show and Ray Manzarec(sp) is the front man, Ian Astbury does not try to be J Morrison; just the voice of the "New Doors."

Former KISS fan (still a soft spot for them.)
Guilty pleasure: Bee Gees, Shakira:dancer:

Axel,

Well, then. Strawbs is required listening for you.:) You should probably pick up Halcyon Days, which is a 2 Disc Compilation set featuring a lot of their best songs. I promise you will like something on there, if not all of it. From the hippie to the headbanger, everyone finds something they love on that set.

I didn't know you did the soundtracks. The only one I have is the moab one, on VHS. I have got to get some DVDs.

Cheers,

Kennith

Yeah, that way we won't have to pay anybody royalties, and won't get into any copyright violation issues.

Another band I have listened to a lot and also seen "live" (if you can call it that) is Tangerine Dream

I'll have to check out Strawbs again. I heard some many years ago, but havent played any recently.

Speaking of Wakeman, did you know he did the keyboard tracks on Bowie's Space Oddity?

I have to add Johnny Cash to the list and especially Hurt the cover of Nine Inch Nails.
That video is absolutely awesome. It raises the hair on the back of my neck each time I see it and hear it:applause:

sounds like you need to do some more listening, the dead without jerry is just nostalgia

i was just getting into phish alot when they announced the bands end in 2004.

Dood, I saw the Dead (OK, The Grateful Dead, not the Dead) 69 times! Took me ten years and I saw them in 14 states and the District of Columbia. Got into taping a little late, but still can say I've lost more live tapes than most folks knew even existed. I have lost thousands of tapes during moves and found them months/years later-what a pleasant surprise.

As for Phish, I saw them 11 or 12 times and realized that they really were repetitive, simplistic and boring.

And, I'm about as old as Karen and Flyfish-feeling even older after reading some of these posts:)

Peace,
