Ok, seeing how i m on the road for work quite a bit, I m eating out a lot. Having been to just about every type of chain restaurant, I think I ll stick with Outback, Olive Garden and Texas Roadhouse (thats just on this trip) for everyday meals. Whats your personal favorite?

Filiberto's (or any 'bertos, really). Or Lenny's burgers

Yeah, Yeah. They're both local chains. Nationally I'd go with Outback.

It sucks after awhile, doesn't it? Eating out is great and all, but after 10 months on the road last year, I was sick of every chain restaurant in the books. Ack.

Our favorites on the road last year ended up being Olive Garden, Red Robin, Outback, Ruby Tuesday, and Chilis.

Red Robin and Chilis were harder to find, but all four seemed to be more consistent in quality, no matter what the state.

Ugh. I probably consume more calories in a 3 day work trip than I do in a week at home. Qdoba and Red Robin are my favorites on the road.

Man you are right about that. When you dont even need a menu to order a three course meal in a restaurant, you know you are visiting them way too often. Going out to eat just gets old, you actually look forward to cooking at home.
Chipotle is great, but unfortunately havent see it in places I frequent, same with Famous Dave's, i like that one. For the price and consistency Outback and Olive Garden seem to be the top preference. Went to a local place in NC a couple nights ago, waited over an hour with just one beer and a salad all the time, ended up walking out and going to Outback.

Local places are the best, especially in places like the carolinas and the Florida coast lines.

At every concert venue, I ended up asking a local for some advice on where to grab dinner that night. I found most cities, especially small ones, have at least a few places that are worth visiting. Florida and the Carolina coast lines have the best local seafood dives around.

So basically, you've thrown in the towel and just accepted eating dogshit? I've traveled on business all over the midwest, pacific northwest, british columbia, and alberta and have always been able to find better food at mom & pop shops than any of the crap restaurants you listed.

Do you buy your groceries at Walmart as well?

x2, I miss that place. If my R&R doesn't get moved any further though I'll be watching the superbowl in my own house with cold bear and some mango habenero wings.

Sweet, Bill! Have a great R&R ! I'm happy you get some time away!

Thank you for your service, brother!:patriot:

Dmitry, we eat out all the time on duty. I hate it. As a DUI officer, it never fails I meet the cooks from my favorite restaurants the hard way. We eat at Chilis quite a bit, and a couple of weeks aho I arrested the cook for his fourth DUI. He had open sores all up and down his arms. Said they were from oven and fryer burns. Nasty

Same here. I avoid chains like the government avoids the truth. There are so many good places to eat every where I go why would I want to eat microwave food?
Especially these days when your gps will tell you most of the restaurants within a 10 mile radius.
One thing I learned is, find the cop cars, usually where the cops eat is pretty good.
Some of the best pizza I've had was at a strip mall in CT at a little Italian place. The best Mexican I ever had was in a shack, and I mean literally a shack with plywood walls and corrugated steel roof, in Monterrey MX.
