So after a few years of the stock plastic hanging off the back of my D2 I decided I had had enough. A few beers a bunch of cutting wheel s and some 1/4 inch steel lol yes 1/4 (I asked for 3/16 but got 1/4) its pretty much done. Still need to install tow hitch and the fender well plates but its only two welds.

Leave the tube to the Jeeps.

Funny, arguably the most iconic Land Rover, the Defender, has a tube rear bumper. And yet people still hate on tube.
Tube, when done correctly, is sleak, elegant, offers better ground clearance, and is stronger than plate.
I'd pin my RockStar Fab bumpers up against any available Rover bumpers out there as far as design, strength and durability. Especially the rear bumper. The wings on some of these bumpers is an outright joke. Attach to the fender or mudflap with a couple bolts? Have fun folding up your rear quarter panels when you hit something.

Really? Every OEM Defender bumper that I've ever seen was not a tube.

I might be wrong, but I think you're mistaken.

Show me Defenders that rolled out of Solihull with tube rear bumpers.

Shit if I know, but I see them all over the NAS 90's. So much so that I thought it was a stock bumper, I guess. My point still stands.

I don't consider the NAS rear step bumper a "real" bumper, it's a step and a hitch. I think it looks ok too. I'll hate on real tube bumpers with everyone else. They are hideous.

No offense taken, but I'm sorry the rear bumper is more tube than step. I have just as much "step" on my rear bumper as that 90 one does.

And lets not forget all the Defender folks rolling around the mall with full on exo-cages. :ack:

The TR rear bumper has a separate large plate that attaches the wing to the floor of the body. I'd use it for a jack point any day.
