Pretty big difference between wolf match and regular wolf ammo in his defense.
I have a ton of wolf ammo and it feeds fine in a Saiga 7.62 x 39 AK clone, it doesn't work worth a piss in my mini-30.
By the way the Saiga rifles can still be had reasonably in a lot of calibers right now. AR's and AK's are through the roof compared to 18 months ago, but you can get this.

They are not sniper rifles, but are a reliable action, reasonably accurate, extended capicity rifles chambered in .223, 7.62 x 39 and .308 they also make clip fed shotguns.
I agree with everyone else who says get a 10/22 and get good with it before going bigger. Both of my daughters love shooting my 10/22 and my wifes 10/22. Mine has the fluted butler creek target barrel, and my wifes has a carbon fiber over stainless barrel. They both have hogue rubber overmolded stocks and mine has the tasco red dot sight while hers is standard scoped. I bought the girls a single shot remington international .223 as we go on hunts each year in the hill country. If you start small and work your way up it's a lot easier.
I also agree with the guys who point out it is a good time to get them before they are gone. The Dems don't seem to get "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" it, and will be trying very hard to take your rights away for the greater good. Much the same as taking my pocket knife from me at the airport is going to stop terrorism.
Get what makes you happy, learn to handle it safely, and enjoy it.
