Since the motor is out, I figured it was a good time to replace the flex plate since mine has some odd lines on it. The new flex plate is not flat like the old one. It a genuine part from a reputable source. So is this how they all are?222E8276-6472-49B2-B24B-B20E22A20876.jpegAB51DE10-BCEF-456F-9901-57B5B0597DEC.jpeg

In the post above , that is a brand new one, never installed. Here is the old one that was removed with the motor. It’s flat but has some weird lines from the crank holes.that why I want to replace it while the motor is out. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg I have never seen a new one but would assume that it would be perfectly flat.

I had a new in box 4.4 flex plate and it was flat. Bought it for a song. I don’t have a LR3, but I vote they are flat. Come to think of it the original version(s) of the rover V8 has some crazy Oldsmobile sprag clutch running an aluminum cased 3 speed, Buick had a flat plate and Pontiac made a flexible contraption to push a tempest mid engined. All flat.

Hey. Thanks for all the comments. I am returning that one and ordering the heavy duty one from Ashcroft. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I miss being able to walk in somewhere and look at the thing I was purchasing. I could see it and yup or nope. Whether it’s Rover parts or stereos, clothes. I always learn what I should have asked when the thing gets delivered. Lol

Those lines radiating outwards from the bolt hole are probably something like grease or an anti corrosion material that has been centrifuged outwards.
Wipe it with a petrol soaked rag and see if it comes off.
Those plates are cheap enough, just replace it is my advice.

There is also another line that is suspect. Either way, I have a heavy duty one coming from Ashcroft and should be here Monday.

If you mean the circumferential line that is slightly rusted, that is where the spacer ring or the boss meet the drive plate,
You could also double up on the stock one if you hadn't already ordered the HD one.
