Flickering oil light

Driving on the interstate on the way to work this morning, my oil light started to flicker. I immediately pulled over and checked the oil. Oil level was ok and looked fine. Cranked the truck back up and light was off at idle. Under acceleration the light started to flicker again. I searched posts for this and most of the flickering light episodes were at idle. Mine only flickered under acceleration. Is this a sign of an oil pump going bad? (I went and had my oil changed during lunch and on the way home the light never came on). Any thoughts are appreciated.

mines been back off and on the last few days. sometimes it will stay off all day and sometimes it comes on at idle up until 1200 rpm after just a little driving, im starting to think its an electrical issue. either way its not getting fixed, im done with this lemon engine. im going to buy a used engine soon to do a light rebuild on and ave it standing by.

i'll agree. recently fixed one by cleaning the nasy crap off the pick-up tube.

while youre down there, change the tube - to - block gasket.

may be the pump itself or the f/c gasket.

Dropped the pan yesterday. Oil in the pan looked fine but the pickup was completely clogged with what looked to be dried up flakes of oil. Hopefully that was causing the flickering oil light and my oil pump is fine. Now if I can figure out where all my coolant has been going I'll be in business.:(
