For Defender money, I'd rather have this!

My brother in law bought a G500 and instantly started whining about how much more it cost to fix than his RRC. Then he started whining about how it spent more time in the shop than his RRC.
Did he buy a brand new one, or a $20k wreck?
You can also recall time when people were bitching how expensive it was to fix a Classic.

All used 80s foreign made 4x4s are overrated. Go to country of origin and buy them in person and you will be paying RRC prices for the vehicle versus used RRS prices.

$50K almost new

Silly, silly stuff. Window regulator led to broken glass. Lighting fixtures failing left and right.

For some reason, the nav CD-ROM drive went ballistic when a music CD was inserted.

Of course, what does he do? Replaces the uber reliable Mini with a second Gelandewagen for his wife.

They do not discuss the repairs/maintenance as my father in law teases him
Mercilessly

I think we have someone on DWeb who recently was happy as a clam when BMW bought back the Mini after three engine replacements.

I think the Mini is a perfect example of you either get a good one or not.

My brother/sister in law loved theirs, nothing but oil changes until they traded it for the second Gelandewagen.

He's now looking at a Panamera-which our friends who own them say they are great as long as you don't drive them much-LOL

Funny. I say driving Panameras is the best thing because if you're inside the car you can't see how hideously ugly they look from the outside.

Aren't those around the same?

Only the ones listed on D90.

Most halfway decent ones I see on craigslist are $4-6k. Which is the equivalent 2.5-4.5k euro or GBP you should pay for a working Defender. Those same trucks cost 18-19k from "dealers" in the US. No servicing or new parts like trans or brakes,or tcase or timing belts etc. Just a problem free trip from pickup to port. That does not warrant a $13k price hike.

The grey market ones are just as much trouble as 110s - difficult to find one that's not rusted and legal.
Correct me Mike W if I am wrong.
