I used to make/edit videos, but never animations, so I cant even imagine the amount of time that took to make...it's actually MTV2-commercial worthy (i mean that in the best way possible)...two thumbs up indeed!

me too, back in the day.
i started with 3/4" u-matic machines (Sony type 5s), which were modified to record timecode on 1/2 of the channel 1 audio track.
back then, trying to do a chroma-key anything like the jeep video would have taken about 30 minutes less than forever.
I used to shoot weddings for our friends as a gift. I still have a couple 1" edit masters, and a couple BetaCam masters.
CG on a Chyron, echolab SEG, sony controller, all tape-based.
yep, those were the days.
now any upstart with a half-way decent computer, a firewire port, and a DVCam camcorder has the technology to do what used to cost a small truckload of cash.
Note that "having the technology" to shoot/edit does not necessarily translate into "having the talent" to shoot/edit.

thanks everybody. my wife and everyone in my extended family think i'm totally insane. my wife wants me to make some sort of commercial for our roofing company someday so maybe i'll use some of the techniques i learned while making this thing. i actually should have used the newest version of flash, but i only have an old copy of like, flash 4 or something, so i couldn't do much with it. i also tried using adobe's old "live motion" but i can see why they stopped making that piece of junk. i actually made this thing with an animation program called "monkey jam" and drew every frame in photoshop.

oh, the song is off of dave grohl's side project album "probot." i think the singer's name is eric wagner. the album is freakin awesome. grohl plays all the instruments and he got all of his favorite old metal singers to sing.

one final note. i was thinking my next project would be a parody of that stupid hyundai commercial that compares the sante fe to the lr3. you know, the cup holder commercial? yeah, i can think of a lot of stuff for that one.
