While I think that this is a real nice gesture, Steve is right.. the admins on this board, in the past, have asked people refrain from selling/buying/discussing the RAVE cd on this board, since it is actually a pirated cd (and we all know that the intellectual property division of Ford sucks).

Rave Cd

I was advised that if I gave a cd away there are no copyright infringments. As I am not recieving any monetary gain. This was upon the advice of legal counsel.

are the CD's original or did you burn them? get a new lawyer.
distribution of bootleg software is illegal and distribution by definition does not necessarily mean getting paid for it. You actually asked your lawyer if you can distribute bootleg software for gain? You asked people to buy stuff, so there's your request for $- although making money isn't a requirement for prosecution.

I really don"t care if we sell some parts. or not. I was simply trying to help people out. I stand on my position. Unless 12 people tell me I cannot do this along with an apellate court.

Kindly read between the lines.

I take it you have passed the bar??

No, but we've seen people get banned from this board for doing shit like this. So while you wait for your apellate court decision, it may be in your best judgement to actually listen to some people who are offering you friendly advice.

If you look at my first line of my first post, I said it was a real nice gesture :) I wasn't trying to bash him at all, I was just trying to help reitterate the warning that steve gave in a little more descriptive manner. If kyle is cool with it though, then I have absolutely no problems.. the cd is the best resource ever!

Good luck with your business Jammer, and I'll probably be contacting you about that tire iron shortly.

I for one think it is a nice gesture...Am I to believe that every piece of software on every computer here is 100% legit? Doubtful. People sell copies of this stuff on ebay all the time...I look at it as he is giving copies to his buddies...not mass producing copies for the world to buy.

No Biggie...I want one! :D

Hey Guys,

I appeciate the positive comments. If you own a Rover , you are usually addicted to them. They can be a nightmare. Especially electrical items. These CDs help a lot. Parts are extremely expensive. Usually people on this site are looking to fix or understand more about their vehicle. I actually had no ulterior motive other than trying to help them. I have been involved with Rovers for only a few years. But I have been around equipment all of my life (construction Business).
All I meant was I stand up for what I believe in and do not back down unless I come to the conclusion I am totally wrong or I am hurting someone or something.

Regards,

You have to commend John for trying to do something nice. I never heard of your website before today, but after I read your post I bought one of your E-bay items, I'm happy to add you name to the list of suppliers I use to keep my Disco going.
