i am sure the Freelander is a great little SUV and all. my beef is that there are just as good and cute little SUVs out there for far less money.
honestly i'd rather have a Ford Escape. i don't see much on the Freelander that justifies the price gap.
the US market and people have spoken......they agree.

mgreenspan said:Ugh... have you driven a Ford Escape? I drove it when my dad test drove a bunch of small SUVs(Freelander, Highlander, Escape and the Mercury equibalent, etc.). Felt like a piece of shit as I drove it personally. The Freelander has a nice ride compared to the Escape.
True though that the price of the Freelander kills it. That's what kept my dad from even considering it. The Highlander was fully loaded for less money. Same thing that makes Honda Accord V6s fully loaded more desirable than Jaguars and BMWs.
I guess it all boils down to how you like your ride to feel. Kinda like your women(or men). Different strokes for different folks.

Freelander.... the first stake in LR coffin
