Pic 1. Gold color out.

Is it leaking around the shaft or the seal to axle housing?

Try some grease on the seal backside to keep the spring in the groove.

Incorrect! It's picture number 2. Spring has to be to inside...not sure if I'm seeing it right.

Regardless, the round spring is always to the inside.

That's what I thought, spring IN.

Take a look at this picture, Left or Right Face OUT?:

I installed Right Picture Face OUT.

First, ditch that and get genuine seals. not napa, not whatever.

Second, post a picture of the half shaft so we can see where that metal dust shield is on the axle. If your dust shield flange isn't almost all the way against the seal that could be your problem.

WHICH Is the giant issue I have with Ashcroft front D2 axles.....if that flange isn't a tolerance fit on the axle it moves out towards the CV and leaks like a sieve.

The picture to your right faces the tire.

This is the way i have been installing them but i must be having an issue with the dust shield.

I'll pull the shaft and see what the seal looks like.

The picture posted was from Partsgeek.com, I bought my seal from the LR dealership.

Thanks for helping the Newb.

I think that is my issue. The dust shield looked like it was closer to the CV joint on the side that keeps leaking when compared to the good side. Is there a reference measurement that can be used to determine if it is in the correct position and can it be moved back into place?
