Answer: Fuel vaporizer:cool: . If you introduce vaporized gasoline into the cylinders, you can improve fuel efficiency exponentially. Your injectors only atomize the gasoline, increasing the space between the droplets to allow room for vapor to ignite. Remember, gas DOES NOT burn. Gas vapor does.
It has been done, it works and the oil companies know it and want to buy your patent if you design one. As a matter of fact, you will have to get sign-offs from the oil companies before the Patent Office will issue you a patent on anything that improves economy by more than 30%.
Or, swap to a diesel and run on waste veggie oil. I've been at it for 10,000 miles in my Benz. I drive 500 miles a week for about ten bucks.

The best one I have heard is to reomve to drives seat, so you can't drive it. :patriot:
I am with you, "pain at the pump".

ME = TDI swap and used oil. Add a little meth and a few other icky products, mix/heat etc. Done. :D

I have only started with this on this truck though. Running it in my last diesel it worked great. Very clean and smooth.

Even running regular pump diesel I was getting a solid mid 20's MPG. This last tank i have been driving very gently, the "egg under the pedal" technique and it looks like i will get near 27 mpg or better.

What about those mason jar HHO generators? There was a recent thread about them...... LOL *ducks for cover*

Have enough white lightening from your mason jar and you won't care what your mileage is.

At that point, let's hope the truck is parked! :ack:

I have been *this close* to buying a freakin' moped to scoot around on from the house to the shop (5 miles) and such.

I just can't quite do it as I recall that old joke:

What do riding a moped and "getting busy" with a really *big* girl have in common?

I'd lose the LR keychain, too...extra weight.
yeah, I would do that, but then no one will be able to tell how Extreme Hard Core (HxC) I really am.
I could probably remove the laminated diplomas I have from the correspondence school I attended to get a degree in ThermoMolecular Transfusional Partical Dynamics, but then no one would now how incredibly fucking smart I am.

Have you seen the commercial with the geico caveman on the moving walkway, when he sees himself in the ad? And he stands next to it, so someone will notice?
That's me at the gas station; I stand next to the pump after I'm done fueling so everyone can see how much I spent on gas.

I'm pretty HardCore.
Extreme, even.
Actually, Tactically Extreme in preparation for any HardCore Urban Expedition, if you know what I'm saying.

I've had a slight increase in my fuel efficiency. Hard to see a savings since within a week they are jacking the prices up even more. What I've done to "improve" my mileage:
  • Changed Transmission Fluid & Filter to Mobil1 Syn ATF
  • Changed Diff and Transfer Case Fluids to Mobil 1 Syn 75W90
  • Changed Oil and Filter: Mobil1 Syn 20W50 and Mobil Filter (ML301 I believe)
  • Changed out the Serpentine Belt (soon to replace the drivers side idler pulley, common)
  • Had engine flushed and filled doing the BG Flush Method. Works great.
  • Check tire pressure weekly
  • Have wires/plugs (need to install)
  • Use only 93 Octane
  • Seafoam in the gas tank
  • Seafoam in the intake plenum
  • and, soon to do brake job on the truck
So far, I've had about a 3 mpg difference in city and 5-6 highway. Gone through 4 tanks since doing the majority of the above work. (I average 500 miles a week).

How much did all this cost you? Ball park it.

Pick up a small dual sport motorcycle. They're cheap, reliable as a hammer, and get 50-60 MPG all day long. They're also way less geeky than a scooter.

My WR is not the right machine like this, I have been thinking of picking up something else for the job. Heck, I can commute to work using 50% trails so, could even be fun.

I'm buying a commuter, making the Rover a trail/summer rig. Double my gas mileage just like that.

I think I want to do the same....does anybody know of a good bike forum where I could pick up a decent used yamaha, kawasaki, honda, suzuki?.....

Sorry but its amazing the lengths people go to in order to save a few bucks on fuel. I see people selling their old vehicles to buy newer more expensive, yet more fuel efficient vehicles. This guy I know just sold his paid off jeep for a new toyota - dumbass. Driving his jeep would have cost him an extra thousand this year compared to last, yet he'll pay a car payment just so he can say he gets 30 mpg. Wise up people. I hate to see the lengths people will go to when gas is $10.00 a gallon 5 years from now.

LOL at the replies here.

I agree about the crazy ways to save bucks..... I DID NOT actually do the TDI swap to save $$. No way in the depths of hell I will EVER get paid back. I did it so I could be a dirty hippie and run biodiesel for next to nothing - but just because I'm a dirty friggin' hippie. The TDI is cool, sounds and drives sweet and I like a good project now and then. I also like being able to pull up next to an 18 wheeler and rev my engine - makes my penis way bigger, even my wifey agrees it's *got* to be up to three inches now.

Anyway... I drink too much coffee...

I think a little on-off bike is a cool idea but to be honest the commute is so short it's not even worth it. Plus I'm getting mid 20's or better MPG so it's not so bad. Any excuse for more toys is a good one though.

My mountain bike has been seeing more use - win-win for everyone. I just eat a big bowl of beans and some dark beer at night and by morning I'm off to work on the bike. :fart:
