Read the Reviews on several Tire sites. 90% of the people liked them . so when I get another $200 I will buy them with confidence.. Good on Ice Snow , Mud and quiet and smooth on the highway. PLUs 60,000 miles service

I'm not endorsing the performance in specific conditions yet, so keep that in mind.

In the next few months, however, I'll have a chance to test them in pretty much every situation one might encounter.

Looking forward to seeing what they look like mounted. I will be ordering tires soon and am trying to decide between the General Red Letters (black side out because red letters on a orange disco probably won't look good) and Nitto Trail Grappler for my 04 G4.

I concur.

Fwiw my 35x12.50r17 stt's balanced out wonderful. One even had no weight. On fj cruiser steel wheels. I have had no complaints and only one failure when a sharp rock slit the sidewall, then I continued on for another year and several wheeling trips until another equally sharp rock hit the same spot and put a pinhole in it. Milked it the rest of the trip and tossed the spare on. Warranty paid me for it so all it cost was the new replacement warranty.

Only regret is I should have don 37's.

Oh and edit, my mom has been running discoverer atr's for a while, they are great in the ice and snow. I got the tip from a ski resort who put them on every vehicle. No studs. Not a true snow tire but does well in my opinion. Second edit, the ski resort may have been running the m&s not the atr.

Now general, the only experience I have with them is the customers that were too cheap to own land rovers put them on because they didn't want to get michelins. I always thought they wore out fast it seemed. I'm all ears though.

I predict these will be loud as shit and will not be stellar in rain or ice. Siping should help with the latter.

I don't think rain will be much of a problem, nor very wet slush.

If you tile the tread pattern on a computer, potential acceptability in regard to the evacuation of fluids behind the bow wave becomes evident. It's very easy to become distracted by the pattern. Isolating voids in photo editing programs (or just scribbling on paper with a marker) is helpful in studying the way it's designed to work.

It's a very clever design, actually. The tire may not have been intended for bad weather or proper all-terrain use, but the idea wasn't ignored entirely. I'm really looking forward to getting those lug nuts in the next few days sometime.

Ice, however, is obviously going to be an issue. They'll be subjected to it this winter, though. NC manages to produce very annoying ice in the early months of the year, and I'll be heading up to PA around Christmas, as well.

I'll certainly find out just how bad they are in those conditions. I'll keep them mounted to see how they work. My only real concerns at this point are ice and mud. I'm pretty darn sure they will be at least acceptable in other conditions, and certainly in the corners.

As for noise, I'm expecting a drone and some resonance in the cabin, but at a higher frequency than the Goodyears produce, and likely at a lower DB level. I'll measure it. Those damnable Goodyears just hit a frequency that bugs the hell out of me.

They will be mounted as soon as those lug nuts show up, so I'll have a shot to post soon.

Interesting looking tyre. I havent seen them in Australia yet. I have been running GG AT2 in LT until recently - great tyre especially for the $. I changed back to Maxxis Bravo 751 AT's in LT because I do a fair bit of towing. The Bravo's are just a gun towing tyre (excellent tracking and virtually no treat squirm like the GG's get up to) and do surprising well off road. I had the original Michelin XPC's and have also run 3 sets of 751's and Pirelli Scorpion AT's on both my D2 and D1.

I wouldnt consider Coopers.

I pulled the trigger and ordered some 265/75r16 red letter generals as well because of the great deal Sears had on them (~$162 a tire plus $70 mail in rebate gift card from General). I won't be able to mount them till I finish the head gaskets on the G4. Kennith, did you ever mount and install your tires yet?

I'll have the lug nuts on Monday, I think; so it looks like I'll be able to mount them next week. They are on the wheels, balanced, and ready to go.

I'm just not going to mount them until I can snap the Land Rover center caps on them and, for that, I need the lug nuts.

I win.

The nuts showed up today, and I stood out there in the rain mounting them. I took my time, as I wanted the initial torquing on those wheels to be as close to perfect as possible. This resulted in me being entirely soaked.

It was a perfect worst case scenario to see how they did in the rain. Lots of standing water was around, and the roads were pretty greasy. Also, the tires are brand new, which makes them a bit slippery.

I didn't have any trouble at all, even when I pushed them as far as one might under such conditions. It was a nice first test. Once I break them in I can pit them against the Goodyears. Right now it's not a direct comparison.

The carcass can be evaluated a bit, however. I've got 36psi cold in them right now (4 less than the Goodyears), and the tire itself is much more controlled.

Initial noise observations were very... Interesting...

They aren't as loud, but it's the nature of the noise they make that puzzled me. It's different than anything I've heard before.

There's no whine or drone, but there is indeed a notable noise; and anyone who's ever crawled inside a large, low pressure air duct would recognize it immediately.

It sounds almost precisely like the airflow inside one of those. It's that sound, but louder.

I rather liked listening to it, actually. It's quite pleasant.

Of course, that will change once they break in. They could crank out a horrible whine when that happens, for all I know. For now, however, it's pretty nice.

I'll do the same thing I did with the Goodyears this week. I'll run off a few hundred miles somewhere to break them in quickly.

At least two people have seen it (and knew they were seeing it) in various states of assembly.
Crown14 caught her on a very bad day recently with half the shit pulled off and a good portion of the interior stripped.

I'm going to take a picture, damn it. It's raining outside, though, and I'm fucking short. I can't take the shot I need to take without the help of some terrain features.

I have to go to a spot where I can get a good angle for this, and that means a trip to a nearby town; when it's NOT raining.
