WAKE UP CALL: TEXAS GOV. BACK RESOLUTION AFFIRMING SOVEREIGNTY
Tue Apr 14 2009 08:44:54 ET

AUSTIN ? Gov. Rick Perry joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states? rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

?I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,? Gov. Perry said. ?That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states? rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.?

Perry continued: "Millions of Texans are tired of Washington, DC trying to come down here to tell us how to run Texas."

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government?s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states? right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

Homeland Security will soon be knocking on his door to take him to a rehabilitation camp where he will be made to watch Obama speeches for weeks on end until he's brainwashed.

next superstorm that rolls thru there we'll see a change of tune.

Really...? Why are you hearing more today about Katrina than Ike?

I live in Houston, the city that Ike ran over. We are doing GREAT today.

I am Texan before I am American.

And where did Ike go when it left Houston ??? I have never seen a hurricane maintain such a high status so far inland in my entire life . . . also amazing was the storm that hung over southeast Kansas for 3 days . . . "waiting" for Ike to make landfall, turn right, go northeast inland, and pass before it proceeded on . . .

Ahh yes, good old Ike. At least he forced all the girls from TAMUG up here.

I bailed that weekend only because I had already reserved a rental car to drive to Dallas to pick up a new to me Disco. The only damage I suffered from Ike was it was humid as hell that Thursday and the last day to order my ring and I ended up with one that is waaaaaaaaaaaay to big.

You beat me to it Comrade!

I just signed my tax check. I proudly wrote in the memo that these funds are not to be used for the oppression of patriots, support of illegal immigrants, nor UHC. Prbably does nothing more than add to my dossier, but makes me feel a little better.

Would suck if they returned it to you and you had to pay the late pay fee. Then again, it wouldn't suprise me of the IRS.
