Green Oval Guild is hosting their first ever Turkey Camp at The Wilds this Thanksgiving weekend. November 26-27. The idea is everybody brings Turkey-Day leftovers for a Saturday evening buffet dinner. No cooking or preparing new food, just what you have left over from Thursday. If we get enough people to attend, the spread will be pretty nice. The trails are all open and in good condition, we will be wheeling all day Saturday, and as long as you like on Sunday. The weather can go either way that late in the year, it could snow 5 inches, or it could be 60 and sunny. This is open to all makes of 4x4 not just Rover so if you have something else you want to run, or bring a buddy that never gets to go the "Rover Only" stuff. Check out Green Oval Guild for registration information.

I don't think you can get that down the road to the camp.
The entrance is a ditch.
There is another way in but if it is at all wet you would bury that trailer on the way in.
I guess we would need to see what conditions are closer to the weekend.

We will ask if we can camp somewhere else.
We could go to the aep camp like we did years ago.
It's a few miles but camper friendly.

There has to be a more friendly way to get an Airstream down to camp without using the same trail we had this summer.

There is. If everyone would just use the road that the Ranger has marked every year we would be fine, but the knuckleheads that always get there too many hours early and don't wait for the staff just do whatever and the rest of the lemmings follow, and before long we have a new muddy road through a ditch that wasn't supposed to be there. We should be having a maintenance day down there soon, we'll make sure the road to camp is in good shape.

The reason the knuckleheads use that road is because there are no signs.

Dan I would not bring that camper to the camp. I have some pics of Marty being pulled by Justin just getting out last time. Marty did not even have a camper but he is a bit heavy.

Unfortunatly it also has thieves and a ban on alcohol.

The best step for The Wilds in my opinion was to keep the camp on the grounds. Now if they were mowed properly and the entrance marked properly it might be better.:D

Who woke Bert up?

I think we are going to use the AEP camp down the road.
It will be better for everyone and very camper friendly.

The Turkey camp is still on for this weekend. Camping will be at the AEP camp grounds.
Camping is free as long as you download a permit to have with you. (contact me and I'll send you one)
Some people have chose to stay at a local hotel.
The weather looks good and we have had a good deal of rain so it should be a good time for all.

Payment can be made in person the day of. Please bring cash or check. The fee is $40 per truck.

The Wilds is closed for the season so no animal tours.

If the Wilds is closed for the season, why not camp on the lower parking lot?

( I assume the upper area - Pavillion - it's gated at the bottom )

That is a good idea but they don't want to start a trend and if we did it they
Would have to let everyone do it. They still think as a non-profit, the zoo will get them on the money making route and we will get to do more because we bring them money.

Yep they got them all, the farm where they came from was a ways away.
I have been told that the lions only attacked jeeps anyway.
