I find it more alarming private citizens are better armed than the national guard. I didn't read anything in that article regarding private citizens fighting to the death to retain their weapons. I guess the whole 'come and get it' bumper sticker is strictly for show?

This is less alarming than what people have observed in the past and about which they are concerned.

Those relatively small, isolated territories are going to be less equipped in general, and destruction on the magnitude of Irma, with nowhere to escape in a timely manner, will scatter that stuff all over the place.

I can understand the idea, even if I think it's a terrible move. Usually, handing any item or amount of power to a government ensures it's loss forever. That's why it's a bad idea. If they genuinely intend to use the stuff for good and return it, I still think it's foolish, but it's not entirely off the rails.

The problem is... You can't know if they plan to return things. Part of the reason we can own that stuff is to protect each other; but if we can't for some reason or another, I think a gray area is being entered.

They mentioned explosives, which is likely what they're mostly after. I suspect they're considering tapping commercial interests if they need the firepower.

It's not the same as Uncle Sam knocking on your door because a bunch of babies don't want you to have guns anymore.

Cheers,

Kennith

I'm not sure that's accurate. Don't think the general public can purchase fully automatic M4's.

That said the Governor just singed it into law. What 'I' didn't read was the time-frame of enforcement. That would be the next story with the meat.

Why would they? Most (legal) gun owners know the responsibility and privilege it entails. Protecting yourself and your family first and foremost. While not one shot was fired, I'd bet not one Antifa thug tried to sucker punch one of them. I not pro-militia, just stating facts.

This is the problem Kennith, we'll never know will we? History has shown us when governments 'take' guns bad things happen, really, really bad things.

then why bring them? it's like pulling your cock out at a porn shoot taunting whores to fuck you, then when they start grabbing at your dick you leave?

im busting your balls. in all seriousness that story has a couple of sentences with zero context...that's the problem with current 'journalism. need the who, what, where, why, and when from both sides. not just the 'theyre taking our guns!'

Why in the hell do the general public have explosives? My guess would be corporations on the islands may hold these explosives, not the general public.

Want to start going further back Mike? We can do that to.

How many died under these leaders combined, care to take a stab?

okay, give examples of a free society with a a constitutional right to arm themselves. and im not talking about creating new laws like australia, free societies disarmed by the federal government.

No Mike, I won't. Why would I keep fine tuning this for you to mold a point? And who in the hell mentioned Trump/Obama? You wanted Historical perspectives of gun grabbing and I gave them. Millions upon millions of people died. That is all.

This is easy.

We can agree that a majority of legal gun owners have their heads screwed on straight. Why take their guns, especially during a time of crisis? I don't personally get it.

You honestly think you can defend yourself from tyrannical government with a a couple pistols and rifles? That may have worked in 1776, before the wide, potent, and high-tech array of weapons US forces have at their disposal. Small arms are a joke in comparison.
