Right you are Dan. Mike A. would close 33 to keep us out of the park.
Look at this link and check out the Dry River district, Rocky Run trail relocation. I'm almost positive that Mike A. has something to do with that add on.

No, this is the deal with 2nd MTN....

The Right-a-way has been in existence for over 15 years. In the Commonwealth, if a public right-a-way is in existence for that long, it becomes a road. So, the state (You and me) graded the road, put in drainage, and threw down some tar. After the road improvements to the land owners property line were made, the land owners wanted that side of 2nd MTN shut down, and wanted this new road "private". So, they erected a gate.

The forest service said "the land owners are NOT going to have their own entrance to the MTN" so, they put up a gate too.

This really pissed off the land owners! So, the land owners start fighting with the forest service..

While all this fighting is going on, Mike Alexander (the guy these guys met) caught one of the land owners on an ATV going around the forest service gate- not once, not twice, but no less than THREE TIMES!!! So, now the owners are really wicked pissed because they can't do what they want...

Then, to top it off, last hunting season someone cut the land owners gate into pieces, LOL...

I would say it wont be long before everything is closed.....The only way to fight it is with money, and get the local businesses to help fight. The 4x4 clubs from as far away as MD come down to clean the place, repair trails, etc... But, it going to be a lost cause sooner or later. Mike A. can talk the talk, but he wants the trails closed too. His involvement is pretty poor with the local issues.

Anyway, I'm glad they did block the road to the upper dam in Dry Run. No one really had any business there anyway. Plus, all the run off was falling right into the reservoir..

By the way Dan, the reason that I said "private" like that isn't because I think it's theirs but, because they think that it's theirs.. I'm well aware of what the deal with second mountian is..

You know Ranger Mike? That may explain why he gave me a funny look when I said my name was Walter Dent. Kavic said he was Daniel Chapman.

Kavic is lucky he did not get arrested...

No, Mike coes across as a "good guy" and tells you what you want to hear. He also tells the tree huggers what they want to hear. Actually, I would tell you what you want to hear if I was driving around in the MTN's all day, alone....

I'd say you are right Eric, I don't go for the donut thing myself. Didn't see anybody doing that but obviously it happened. Doesn't particularly follow the tread lightly motto does it?

Looking at the pictures that Mr Ed posted the link to I'd say that you guys are lucky you didn't get in trouble..
Are you referring to the Dodge Ram pickup using a circular technique to remove non-native invasive plant species? I don't think Dodge is a sponsoring partner of the Tread Lightly Project.
