LOL! The PPK in stainless is a jam factory anyway until it's either broken in with 500 rounds or a ramp job done. I did a ramp job and it won't jam unless I let someone try it and they limp wrist it- common problem on small semi's. One of my USP's had the stainless slide... I don't recall that one jamming more than maybe once or twice...
If you don't want your PPK- I'll give it a good home. :)

Thanks steve
ill keep it
unless u have a blued one to trade??

the stainless usp.thats a stainless slide on a polymer frame ,,,correct???
in my mind its stainless to stainless that gets my goat.

i would trade any stainless slide and frame for a blued pistol.
i dont even like stainless in longarms.
i used a ruger 243 stainless in Afrika for long range springbok hunting
and i thought/felt as though the bolt was binding compared to my remington mod 7
in 308.
its one of these things with me just dont like stainless.

The P7 is great. I'm in the market for an M10 or a P7M13 myself. I sorta kinda wish I grabbed the M8 they had at Cabelas last time I was there 'cuz P7s aren't widely available.

I found it on GunBroker. It was a little over $1600 after everything was said and done (FFL fee, ect). http://www.gunbroker.com/

The magazines are hard to find, however a friend of the family is a SureFire, Cold Steel, Gun "dealer" in NH so he has been able to help out. I got a chance to see a few new SureFire Knives which was nice, This man has the best job on earth!

I have a S&W .357 "Highway Patrolman". Thats one heavy ass gun to carry around in the woods. Are later S&W's lighter?

Not necessarily. I have a fairly new 686P (7-shot) in stainless with a 4" barrel and it is a substantial piece. I bought it as a multi-purpose gun for both target shooting and protection in the woods. I carried it on my hip during elk hunting season and, while I noticed it was there, I didn't feel burdened by it.

You can get ultralightweight models nowadays that are a breeze to pack, but there are trade-offs. These guns are typically only in small and medium frames, so about a 4" barrel is the longest you are likely to see. That, along with the substantially increased recoil, will cut down your accuracy quite a bit.

Someone said to me once, "It won't do you any good if you leave it in the truck." If the weight is enough of an issue to where you won't carry it, you need to get a lighter gun.

Well went to Blue Ridge today with a friend so she could finaly try her new Sig 239. The guy that I talked to was pretty nice and not pushy. I put two boxes through a 226 in .40 . She let me put a mag through her's. Didn't really notice a difference between the .40 and 9mm but then again I only shot 7 rounds. So it'll be back to the range next week with a couple others to see which I like.

One of my favorites is S&W 686+ w/ 4" barrel

Stainless 7-shot revolver in .357 mag. Get used to it firing .38 spec. and move up to hotter .357 mag. later.

My 2 cents-

My buddy lent me his for some hog hunting last August, I just gave it back to him in December. Had to give him a few 6-packs to offset the ~700 rds I put through the thing of .38 spc. Love the gun. Easy to shoot, never had a firing issue and it just felt like a quality gun should.

A revolver, blue steel, 4" barrel chambered for 44 special. It's a great round, good stopping power but not too brutal of a recoil. Leather flap holster to protect against brush.

I've got my Walther P22 for plinking and hiking and the Mossberg 12ga for car camping.

I have an itch to by a new handgun and I have totally confused myself into which one to get. Right now the HK USP9SD is barely leading the Springfield 1911 and then I muddy the waters further with the Sig 226 and Ruger P-Series.

I agree with this 100% and rupps comment on the wheel as first gun.

Not sure what you are using it for when camping... BUT, if for defense and you do go this route. Practice with .38 for ease and cost. ALways end with a few 357 to remember the feel. Then if you leave it loaded for defense, leave the 357 in there if you are comfy with them.

The 357 will have a helluva kick in this size or smaller. I have the 3.5" and it packs a helluva wallup and is accurate only at very close range, even for an excellent shootist. Which I am only average.

Take a lesson or two, if you have never owned. Even better do a safety course.

I can't believe it got to 3 pages and not a single suggestion for a Glock. I don't own any, don't like how they fit my hand, but most handgun threads there are usually a couple of glock people.
Anway, I really like my Ruger P-90. It's more accurate than I am, and inexpensive compared to most. Also considered to be very reliable. But Steve is right, people tend to love them or hate them...kinda like Rovers. ;)
I think if you try one and feel good about it, you won't find a better deal on a new gun. The P series comes in 9mm, .40 and .45.

I carry a Kahr K40 when backpacking (where legal of course). I figured if I'm going to cut my toothbrush in half I could carry a little lighter sidearm. The K40 is a great concealed carry gun also. Just my .02...

To play on another thread if I may...

The Glock is like the Toyota Land Cruiser...Vanilla. ;)

There is just something classy and functional about a wheelgun. Get it in a nice leather holster, and it just "fits" right for so many different situations.
