Have my neighbor problems gone away?

Living where we do, a siren gets one's attention immediately.

While I don't wish pain and suffering on anyone and I don't look to benefit from another's misfortune, sometimes, the universe metes out Justice on its own.

Last Monday, he was taking pictures of the trucks in the driveway and behind the shop-AGAIN.

I hope you can account for your whereabouts. Might be a good idea to keep in the company of several others until everything settles down. Just in case the authorities ask.

Perhaps he's not been well? Might explain his unhappiness with you and your yard.

Given the fact that he's the only one who complains and the vehemence with which his displeasure is related to me, this could well be the case, however, I suspect he's just a controlling and manipulative bully of an old man.

Again, I'd never wish less than good on anyone, regardless of the depths of our disagreements, I do recognize that greater powers than I may mete out justice.

send him flowers and you or your wife visit him in the hospital. Show him you care for your neighbors and are above calling the zoning board on your neighbors.

Then spray his lawn and garden with TotalKill.

I was going to suggest plain 'ol rock-salt, but hey, that works too.

Being the bigger man here is key, though.

a few years ago (7) i bought the house my wife and i live in now. the neighbor 2 door down was a chronic complainer and chronic drunk. My good friend across the street has his garage set up as a woodshop - he is a retired carpenter/craftsman. I totalled my 96 D1 2 weeks after I moved in and I slowly rebuilt it. This cock-knocker neighbor kept calling the cops on my retired neighbor and then he started on me. Told the cops my neighbor was running a woodshop out of his garage and told them I was running a body shop. Dick move. One day the dickhead was driving by and I gave a friendly neighbor wave and he gave me and my other neighbor the finger. Anyway, a few years ago the ambulances are out front of his house and he's being led away in a body bag. Oops.....looking for pity? Look the other way, motherfucker. At least his widow looks happy now. Ha ha, shitbag!

Fuck yeah. If you are a shitbag and start shit up with others, don't look for sympathy here.

I'll send him a get well card. I have either ignored him, glared at him, or ignored him since the SHTF with us.

Given his general health, I doubt he'll be with us much longer and if he is, I strongly suspect his days of truck pulling and working are gone.

I suggested to my wife that I'd go to the weld shop where he "works" and apply for his job-LOL.

Karma's a bitch..

I learned some more today.

Apparently, his wife was scheduled to begin 25 days straight of chemo-therapy today and the stress apparently got to him.

The 911 call was for difficulty breathing, I'm assuming he had some sort of heart attack.

The wife is either going to go offer to help in any way, or will make a phone call. As the very least, I'll offer to feed the dog.

It's surprisingly easy to be the better man in situations like this. At least it is for me.

Good for you. Yes, Karma's a bitch and things usually catch up with people. Still doesn't mean you can't be the better person and offer to feed his animals and look after the place. Who knows? He may even change his tune after recovering :)

I think some people get so wrapped up in what other people have goin on that they could give themself a grabber. I wouldnt be thrilled if you ran a shop right nextdoor to me but I sure as hell wouldnt fuck with you or get myself worked up about it. Life goes on. Sounds like the poor old bastard thinks he has no control over anything anymore, wife being that sick and all.

It worked!!!

I sent a card Tuesday, they got it yesterday.

The woman next door called and talked to my wife for half an hour. In between crying about what a nice guy I am (yeah, can you believe it?) and saying how sorry she was her husband had been so nasty about the shop and yard, it looks like those two at least are getting along well.

My wife did zing her pretty good by saying that we were being neighborly by offering to help in their time of need and reiterated that I've done nothing but try to befriend the neighbor.

Today, Don gets a pacemaker. Something tells me his days of eating at the local redneck diner, runnin' his pullin' truck, and whinin' about me are gone!

Sadly, his wife has had some pretty invasive surgery removing cancer and is now in the throes of chemo.

I hope they're alright.
