Head Gasket Job HELP SAI manifold

The manifold wont come off from the head. The bolt and its adapter into the head just spin and it is an impossible angle to grab the triangular side that adapts to the head.

Any tricks on getting these off? I really am at a loss.

the fitting on the head where the pipes go in?

If you cant get on it, you may have to cut the pipes off. I have seen several end up getting cut off. the threads are usually finger tight in the head, but the fitting is super tight.

New SAI pipes are expensive!

Use a short 18 m/m to grab the adapter and 1-1/16" wrench on the nut.

HOse it down with penetrant first.

figured it out... need to take off the exhaust manifold bolts around the SAI manifold and that will allow you to get a hold of the spinning head interface.

oh yeah they are. I always soak it with PB, liberally.
