I didn't take any pictures with the headliner completely out, but here's one with the bedliner'd headliner partially installed, then fully installed. I second the idea of rhino or other bedliner, the thing will never droop again ...

rhinolining it looks great and i would love too. the problem is that its not the headliner material only that is sagging. for some reason the fiberglass headliner underneath it is sagging. if i want to put that back in rhinolined im going to have to find some way to get it back to its original shape.

Bought a can of roll-on bedliner off the web for $120 and did the rest myself ... there's an article on the project in the January 08 issue of Land Rover Monthly ...

I've had mine out for a long time now. It's a bitch to live with, as it really makes a huge difference in climate control. In the winter, the heat leaks out very fast, and in the summer, it gets quite a bit warmer in there.

I've just about got my plans finished for the replacement. I don't plan on not having one forever. I just take my time. No rush.

I was going to put it back in after measuring, but the cat got to it. I never did check to see if she actually clawed it, I just saw her up there. It's on top of the drop cieling over my living room. It may be fine, who knows? I'll check eventually.

Cheers,

Kennith

sorry for the semi-hijack about the bedliner business, but I agree that having it out may not be a good idea. I had mine out for a few weeks while I was doing the job, and it is noisy. It made it easy to work on sunroofs, but it wasn't a practical long-term solution for me ...

Had mine redone for $200 by a local headliner shop. Definitely worth the dollars as here in FL any decrease in insulation is a no no.

Ditto the problems in Florida. Leave it to Land Rover to make more sub-par parts.

My '03 Disco is already saging like a motha.... but, my vehicle came from Florida, which seems to have sped up the inevitable depletion of the materials.

Fortunately I have an 'S' model with no sunroofs, so I think removal and re-installation should be relatively uncomplicated (it seems like sunroofs are what makes these things tricky).

I've never heard of a headliner shop, but I'm sure they exist (especially in Fla), so I may have to do some research. I'm sure buying a new one from Land Rover would cost me more than I paid for my Discovery, so it's probably out of the question. I just always wonder if these shops can adhere the material better than factory laminating machines... Then again, given how crappy mine was from the factory, I'd assume it can't be any worse.

this has been a great thread! Great pics on the headliner install. Mine is sagging and driving me insane. After looking at all the pics I have come to the conclusion that I will have a shop do it. It looks like it will take me too much time and I am willing to pay the 200-300 (hopefully) to have someone else do it. I thought about trying to find a cool microsuede kindof fabric as the door panels for the headliner too... but if the shop can get the 1/8 stuff I am going to do that.

I paid $180 here to have mine redone. Mine had been sagging a while and couldn't ignore it. I thought about the rhino idea, but I think I am going to wait and do it to a trail only truck.

Any shops to recommend in the Boulder area that will redo mine? I think I want to finally tackle my dysfunctional sunroof while I'm at it.
