Told ya so!

i'm not sure how long to run this one. probably 2-2500, and toss in some more T6. gradually run intervals up to 3500-4. i don't think i'd want to go longer than that. i was pretty relieved when i saw what my oil pressure gauge was reading.

What is the engine oil temp? I'm assuming you still have the stock oil cooler without an oil thermostat. Fwiw, engine oil temp, with coolant at operating temperature even in summer heat, will fluctuate between 140-160 degrees having the oil cooler plumbed. Get a reading of your oil pressure when the oil is at proper (200 degrees) temperature. 10-12 psi is all you need at idle.

Both of my trucks sit at 200 degrees and keep 12 psi at idle. I completely rebuilt the 4.6 in my '03, block tanked, heat tested, and power honed, crank and cam polished with new cam bearings as well as bottom end, and it gives 12psi at idle at 200 degrees oil temp. The 4.6 in my '99 gives the same exact pressure at the same temps.

I used to run Redline 5w40 but now run Redline 5w50. The 40 gave me 10 psi while the 50 gives 12 psi. You'll find almost every rover owner swears by 15w40 rotella...then wonders why their engine is sludges up and the oil pump gear cracks. Stick with the t6, if thats what you prefer, 5w40 and add zinc during your oil service.

Any of you boys ever heard of a ACCUSUMP? i have one not because i stand the rover on its nose now and then but because i dont ever start my engine with out oil pressure first. the MADMAN that designed this 3.9-4.0 feeds the oil cooler first before the mains or rods. that is a long lapse before they get any oil pressure. So when my key turns on the solenoid opens sending oil to the the engine then i start. now before i roll i let it sit a few min to recharge the ACCUSUMP. i dont need to drive around with an extra 3 qts in the pan. No i have the three quart unit... way over kill but i had it left over from my track car and figured " what the hell" i own it all ready.

I got a few pms so here it is in a nut shell. A ACCUSUMP is just an accumulator air pressure charged on one side of it and oil pressure on the other. you set the air pressure " mine is set at 10psi" . Its a balance act, oil pump on one side and accusump on the other.. good oil pressure the pump is supplying the engine with oil pressure, something happens to the oil pressure the accusump takes over and dumps pressurised oil in to the engine. on start up the trapped oil pressure is released when my key goes on to " prime "the engine. when the oil pressure becomes greater then the 10 psi the oil is them forced back in to the accusump till you need it.

No one should run a diesel oil in a Gas engine... A base line Diesel oil has a butt load of detergents in it that will wear out a gas engine.
