Hello
I have a new project 95 classic that has no hood cable and hood wont close- so I was thinking about some kind of latch to go on the sides of the hood- are there any that are bolt on able with no modification? or is it easier to re do the hood opener cable thing? ok also I have limited skills - I am trying to learn though!

Im not trying to be cheap but I would like to learn to successfully fix something on my truck. I feel like a total mechanical bad ass when I change oil but that seems to be the limit of my mechanical abilities- I just want to do some basic stuff. So really PT you want me to bring my new unnamed project up there to do the hood cable, could it be done in my visit or would I have to leave it? I will have to wire this bitch shut. depending on when the rovertym kit arrives I will bring it up after all of that goes on.

No, don't bring it to me, trace the hood release cable and see if there is a stub of it remaining. If so, you can grab ahold of that with vise-grips until you get a cable.

You could even try a generic cable from a place like Advance or Autozone. Be aware though that some of them have a ring on the end opposite the handle and when you cut the ring off,t eh frayed edge makes it difficult to thread the cable through the sheath.

You will need to remove the grill to gain access to the latch, it's a PITA. If you get lucky, you sometimes can do this through the holes on either side of the latch, but it's easier to take things apart and be able to see what you're doing.

Ok PT if the cable is the way to go then I will trust your judgement. My father wants me to do a jaunty and retro leather strap- he just went to the auburn museum...
so I was looking at the hood pins but I was unsure of how safe they would be. as soon as I can get this up to you I will.
