How does one go about getting one of these grills?

I'm guessing they're not likely found anywhere... but I had to ask!

pick up a copy of LR Monthly or or any others - this grille, IIRC, is part of Brooklands exterior kit, but could be purchased separately. They want something like 100GBP + for it. If you find one cheaper, let me know - I want one, too!

BTW, that looks pretty stupid behind these thick bull bar posts :)

DAP had them awhile back. I don't know if the still sell them now but you can always give them a call.

Thanks for the tip. Looks sweet, but good point about it looking dumb behind the bull bar (which I have one coming).

For all the VW guys, it looks like the dual round grills they have for Golf's, GTI's, etc. :D

DAP is out of stock on those, but there's a rumour the computer is wrong and there's still one in 'the barn'
I'll know more tomorrow.

They went by the computer... I'm gonna climb the ladder in the barn and see if my eyes were tricking me or not, cause I thought I saw one.

haha.. umm... but does that mean if you find one you're going to buy it (and I still won't have one)?

No- my Rangie is staying stock... if it's in there, it's yours. I just thought for sure I saw one in there.

The non-NAS spec looks even cooler with the vertical slats instead of the NAS horizontal slats. And, the grille is aluminium rather than plastic. I got one at the Sod for a pound!!!

Turns out the grille that I saw was one with a mesh cover that covers the whole front of the truck, including the headlamps. Another vintage questionable styling cue from the early 80's.

logigeek:

I have one of those grilles. I haven't put it on. The quality of construction is not anything like the stock grille... it's vacuum-formed plastic, rather than cast plastic. I'm surprised it was a 'factory' part. It's really not up to the same standards. Design is cool, construction not so.

I'm debating whether I will use it for my '95. The fog/driving lights (not sure which pattern) stick out the back and will probably rub against the cooling 'log' (can't recall but think it's the power steering cooler).

If you get curious enough to want to see one in person, shoot me a message. I live near Barbur and Capitol in SW Portland.

I paid a ridiculous amount for it and regret it now. If I don't use it, I'll offer it up, probably for something less ridiculous. If I ever get my rack mounted, I'll just use Hella FF200 or FF300 cat-eye lights on the front of the rack and leave the grille stock.

(Somewhat poor) picture of the old vertical-style grille:

I like the vertical style grill. I took a grill & headlight surrounds (aluminum construction) from a 1979 and put them on my 1989. Then one of the vertical grills with the spotlights showed up on eBay and I almost bought it. I love the look, but doubted the fit and quality since it was made of plastic, plus the vertical grill had to be cut on the bottom to clear the winch thus making the mounting of the spotlight grill inadequate if it were installed. Anyway, here's some photoshop pictures of what it would have looked like.

the vertical grills look mean... remind me of Hannibal in Silence of the Lambs for some reason.. haha

where does everyone get their european front turn signals from? I bought a set from the UK, but they're the wrong ones (for a very early UK-Spec Rangie).... I want them too! :)
