I do not know about Discos' but I know that K&N definately work on cummins turbo diesels. As for the noise issue you can definately hear more turbo wine when it spools up. From the consenses on here I will remember not to install one in my disco though.

I'm neutral on this. Straight from the box to the car. No problems. No noticable improvements either. But I won't have to buy another air filter though.

however...you may need to hone the cyls. after the xtra dust and dirt particles wear them out  !

Yeah, maybe after, like, two million miles.

Come on... everybody is entitled to an opinion, but that's practically superstition. There isn't THAT much difference in how well they filter (debatable that there is any). And some of us change our oil every once in awhile. If these guys were ruining engines, they would be out of business and so would the companies that are copying them.

Useless? Your call. Terminally harmful? Very doubtful.

This thread has become very funny :D

Disclaimer:
Some high school kid is going to read this & cross-drill the brake lines, let 1/2 the air out of the tires, and stick a cone filter on the end of their exhaust on their parents Disco to improve street performance,,, so kids don't try any of these suggestions at home. (although you may want to try spraying your air filter down with WD-40 to clean it. Pam also works as a cheaper alternative. Your Mother probably has some lying around the kitchen... )
