PT, thank you so very much, that's very helpful information!

After changing my air filter and cleaning the MAFS, I'll try and swing by a shop and have that done. I'm in the process of getting one of those CDs too, I've heard great things about the info contained therein.

lol, well, apparently it doesn't take the ECU very long to adapt, as the problem just self-corrected, and performance feels better than ever, so hey... nice electronics!

I DID go ahead and thoroughly mop up any extra oil off the K&N, and I'm going to replace it with a paper one VERY soon.

quick update:

Replaced K&N Filter with champion paper filter, stuck K&N in box under driver's seat as an extra ICE.

Cleaned the MAF sensor with appropriate spray purchased at Auto Zone, cleaned contacts on connectors, also cleaned housing, airbox, throttle body intake using carb cleaner.

let it all dry, started her up and..... idle still too high. I have the battery disconnected for the night, we'll see tomorrow what happens when I reconnect her. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I fully expect everything to be the same.

According to another mechanic I've spoken with, there are a number of other sensors that could be causing it, but I'm inclined to think my ECU just needs to be reset as was mentioned. *sigh* there goes a hundred bux.

well, now it idles even HIGHER, if you can believe it. I did however, notice that when I wiggled a sensor on the throttle body, it dropped, but still not as low as it needed to. After tweaking the wire on that sensor and restarting the car, it was still idling at 1500. Looks like I'll be taking it in on monday.

i tried everything you have, plus putting a new ccv in there, was still the same. makes stopping at red lights a PIA huh?:banghead:
in the end, only thing that sorted mine out was resetting the adaptive values for the gems. think it was the first thing i did when i got the faultmate:applause:
i dont know if the faultmate would be a worthwhile investment with the disco 1, but for the p38, worth every penny.
have them run a full scan for codes, and write it all down so you can go back to it if needed. maybe a bad o2, tps, etc etc etc. although mine did it for no logical reason it seemed.
