...then it is legal isn't it?

Looks like a pretty good truck. Even an old Defender would be easier to take care of than a series vehicle -- I know from experience.

If a 25 year old Defender could be had that is in this good of condition (at least it looks fair) then I may actually be in the market for one in the next few years.

It appears to be registered as an historic vehicle.

My '65 IIa wasn't even considered historic. I think the law is that 25+ is legal, but that doesn't mean that getting it registered in whatever state you are in would be easy. When I registered the IIa they merely had to visually inspect it to see that it was beyond the 25+ year mark, after that, they only needed to ask what model of Jeep it was!

The vehicle is an ex- british Ministery of defence 110 when they sell them on the open market they get an estimated year of manufacture as the MOD does not get or have original registration documents.

more than likely some one did a vin swap in the UK in order to import it here.

as correctly the british mod started getting the coil sprung in march 1983

Its the normally asperated diesel with no turbo.

The cab's been made as the 110 MOD ones are 90% soft tops.its unlikly to be an ex radio vehicle as they were hard tops, they had front wheel arch radio mounts too which the remanents of may be under the chequer plate if some one chucked the roof

It has older series bonnet catchs as per mil spec and Jerry can holders
before the rear wheel arches.

Tough as old boots

I miss remembered,,,,they get given age related plates....a Q plate in the UK is usually issued for a Kit car/car rebuilt of more than one
or missing vin plates.....oops so years of vehicle can be fudged.

ie importing to the us it would need to be more than 20 years old.

When a dealer has 20 identical ex military green landrovers all of which need to be registered and one client in the US...whats a few years between friends...

I would bet the market for these will be pretty hot come 2008...

Like hot enough to consider buying a few before hand, getting them licensed in 2008, selling them off as fully legal then.

The reference to Chris in the ebay listing is for Chris Laws (me) of Badger Coachworks. He has a Badger Coachworks half cab that is set up for a Euro Spec. Land Rover. So it is a bit different than a NAS Badger half cab.

Sew on and sew on...
