Im not talking duct tape, extra batteries for your MP3 and cold beer!! I want to know the special tools that are commonly needed for rovers.

I recently broke a inner front axle and here are a couple "non-common" tools I needed and now carry.

A 14mm ratchet wrench for the bolts that hold the entire outter axle housing from the main axle tube. Had to remove this to get the broken piece out.

Magnet extension pole.

Snap ring pliers

11mm wrench for brake line. I cant find a 11mm line wrench anywere.

Large socket for the two spindle/bearing nuts. I mic'd these to be around a 53mm but I could not find this large of a metric socket so I used a 2 inch socket and used my dremmel to make it large enough to fit correctly.

What else is common and where is this tool used?

I did a search but they just mentioned common sense tools. I want to know the special tools needed for our rovers. Thanks.

A draper tool comes in handy. Sometimes you can just pop out the tie-rod end, but when you can't, this tool is a life saver.

You can't find a 11mm wrench?? or a rover hub socket? You are not looking very hard.

I said I had a 11mm wrench but could not find a 11mm LINE wrench, You know for brake and fuel lines. There is a diff. and I always try to use the correct tool. Brake line nuts are a softer material then normal bolts and require the correct tool. Do you own a 11mm line wrench??? If so, where did you get it? All the auto stores around me go from 10mm to 12mm and skip the 11mm.

I even asked the Snap On dealer and all line wrenches are two sided and one wrench has 10mm and 12mm on it.

I just found a 11mm line wrench. Snap-On calls it a flare wrench and its a 9mm and 11mm wrench. This was not on the Snap-On truck and must be rare because my Snap-On guy did not know of it and I have been buying from him for years.

Have you tried a 7/16th brake line wrench on for size?

Cool. I can trim my trail kit down to a hub wrench 11m line wrench, 13mm 12 pt socket , snap ring pliars and I am outta here. Man that will lighten the load.

Here is my list:

1- Recovery Gear.
2- Tools for: wheels, tires, brakes, axles, engine and jerry riggings.
3- Spares: Hoses, pads, belts, fluids, driveshafts, axles, cvs, bulbs, switches.
4- Food and water.
5- Clothing.

The specialty stuff I carry that is specific to rovers is the hub nut socket and spares. Other than that nothing special.
