Thats a good device for sure!

But there is nothing better than a Sommelier Tool in the hands of a Master.

you guys and your cork screws:smilelol:

us Colorado boys just push the cork in the bottle!:D

Hello!? Colorado native here. :p

Then what. Push a knife up in there so you can get the wine out. LOL.

Sorry I come from a lineage of fine Sommeliers... just kidding. I used to work at a restaraunt and sell thousands of dollars in wine a night. I got a little snobby. :D

Thus the reason for the pelicans, riedel and proper toolage.

Or, you need to invite me eh?

I try to make it to Durango at least once a year, usually more. Navigate between Durango, Ouray, Silverton, Pagosa Springs....

its a pretty nice place here, We camp and wheel in silverton quite often in the summer months. Pagosa is growing now. We opened a new office over there. We should get a silverton - Ouray trip together, theres a few people around here and we go a lot, and most people with rovers/jeeps don't usually have an excuse not to travel here.

Bri, mine is a regular Laguiole. It's nothing super fancy. I think I spent about $100 or so on it.

Tom, I haven't used the screwpull, but I've never had an issue whatsoever with the Laguiole. I've spent a lot of money on crap wine openers. I gave up on the cheapos and bought the Laguiole and all the problems opening up a bottle went away.

In desperation, just bang the bottom of the bottle of wine on a tree trunk. The cork will come out. Not sure I'd want to do it with a nice bottle of wine, but it will work.
On the other hand, I thought everyone had a swiss army knife in their glove box...
Or, just buy wine with screwcaps. ;)

I haven't used a Laguiole. I'm sure there is more than one "best". :p

We must be doing something wrong - same old "el cheapo" corkscrew for the last few years. And we go through at least 6 bottles of wine a week :) I'd rather spend the $'s on the wine than the corkscrew ;)

There are some fine cheap Sommelier Tools. I have one. There are also now some decent screw top wines. To each his own.

Yep - I read an article in one of the wine magazines a while back about natural cork and the wine industry now looking to alternate "corking" methods including screw tops and of course composite corks. Can't remember the name of the vineyard (and too lazy to find the mag) but at least one of them was looking at the feasibility of using a ceramic stopper like Grolsch does with their beer.

Back to the topic of special tools in your trail tool box...

If you have bearings that have to go on the trail or away from the shop...

You'll need to get the seals off. Might carry a seal puller and seals. Or if iirc, put the hub back on, front ways or reverse, depending on the seal. Then put on the the hub nut (i think that is all that is needed). Pop the hub off and the seal will be left behind the nut.

Then to set the seal use a front axle flange. Tapping on it will yield perfect depth, IMO, but rememeber you have to get the flange off the hub again.

I usually throw in a front drive flange into the tools/spares, but it has yet to be needed off road.
