I just scored the Life Proof case at the BestBuy mobile phone specialty store at the mall 20% off. $69.75 w/ tax! I don't know if the sale is at the regular store or not but it's worth checking out.

I dont have a 4g but my Otterbox Defender has been great. It's been dropped, thrown at walls, etc and my phone's been fine

No case! I run my 4S butt nekkid. Been doing it for 3 years, haven't broken one yet.

I have the Magpul case. Made of the same stuff as their Magazines. Not nearly as rugged as the LifeProof, and definitely not water proof... but works for the occasional table to floor drop. It's dead tiny, and adds a bit of grip to the phone itself.

At only $10 it's a steal for as well as they work, but not be for everyone, especially if you are hard on your device.
