We don't have jobs here, we don't have much of an infrastructre here, we need aid here (well, maybe not), but we certainly spend way too much of our money on Israel.

Agree - We should stop sending money, troops, and weapons to those countries and let them all fight until there is one winner. Then we will know who's ass to kick and get it done much cheaper and with less U.S. losses.

'67 Egypt kicked a bunch of UN out and did a blockade which led to the Six Days war... that was where Israel captured the West Bank, Gaza, and Golan Heights if memory proves.
That's what my memory tells me.
Now, how does that translates into Egypt and Lebanon being the greatest places there?

burn_e - read some on surveillance in Dubai. Dubai is a police state that puts East Germany to shame.

And to that -
Israel does the job that U.S.A. (and U.K., France, Russia, and China) very much wants to do - but is too-P.C. and limp-wristed to do.

agreed, there is plenty of data collection over here (you have for recognised that I actually life there) but in there honour I have to say its not hidden at all - unlike my home country and don't forget your own. If you disagree, THEY do a good job in disguising!

Here's a good example.
They don't hesitate to act upon their surveillance, either. Dubai may appear a peaceful and civilized place, but free country it is not.

Video surveillance in the U.S. is a joke.

Did you realise who is the owner of the LA Times? Please stop it !

I think you need to travel more to see more

(statisicly chances are high that you never left US (military campains not considered), never opened a foreign newspaper and can't point at the countries on a map your free country has attacked)
:patriot:

I send my apologies if you are member of the minority who did different and I just recommend you to look behind the curtain sometimes (see above)

We should not be surprised.

Mark is correct on this one point: we shouldn't be surprised that Iran wants to join in and muddy the waters. But just how are they going to get there? Egypt controls the Suez Canal, but they don't want Iranian ships mucking about off Gaza any more than Israel does. Blocking their transit of the canal is simple. But now that Egypt has opened its borders with Gaza, it's kind of a moot point....

Again, I agree with you, but the US hasn't had a good track record in recent history for backing the regime that ends up being the better of the options.

PT was also correct in that this was a major policy blunder, in that the blockading of Gaza - and the humanitarian crisis it created - only served to create more militants. We - as well as our allies - have to learn how to be smarter, not fight harder, if for no other reason other than it's cheaper.

But what the fuck does
Try, Try Again
have to do with Gaza? Just random cut'n'pasting, I guess....

Try, Try Again - "...And that may be the best that Barack Obama can do. Give a speech. He’s good at that. It’s not his fault that he has no executive experience. He never ran a company. Was never mayor of a city. Achieved nothing in his role at the Chicago Annenberg Foundation. He was never governor. The press knew that all from beginning. Like Dr. Jayant Patel, the President walked into the room on his own say-so. And nobody wanted to say ’show me’. So having failed at that it is slightly unfair to lay the blame entirely on him.

Barack Obama’s incompetence, if indeed he is incompetent, results directly from a flawed political and media process that allowed such a candidate to go forward. It’s a failure of quality control. It’s an indictment of the gatekeepers and of the media in particular. They didn’t look the gift horse in the mouth and now it turns out he’s wearing dentures.....
"

As already pointed out in the Empty Promises thread, the Left is joining the Right in their view of the Obama administration. Last night solidified that perspective in the eyes of many.

The issues in the ME are a direct result of The Gulf

Still would like to buy you a beer ...... :D

American, English, Canadian and Australian ?

P M, jokes aside, some here vouch for you in all regards and I didn't want to offend you personally but I am just a bit allergic against generalising things.

:bigok:

Since it seems that you are well literate and knowlegdeable you know that the troubles in the Gulf are complex and reach back many many years and will not be solved by the way it is approached the last 62 years...
