Is There Any Way To...

...make the door locks in a D1 lock automatically? I've seen doors (I know my Crown Vic does it at about 5 mph) that will lock when you put a vehicle in gear or when you hit 5 mph or so. I got to thinking about doing this tonight on a long, boring shift and figured there has to be some way to do it.

Yup, there's a way to do it.. take your truck to the dealership and pay them to enable it via the testbook It's one of the options that they can turn on

I think they just charge shop-rate for testbook changes.. so figure like $75-85/hr depending on the dealership.. Some dealerships are cool and will do it for free..

at the rate the actuators wear out and the cost to replace them when they do, i dont waste my lock/unlock cycles. I could justify it if the wife drove it or something.. What other things can these "testbook" procedures modify??

This is why I want to do it, as she NEVER locks her doors and it bothers me for safety reasons.

LOL! It's not for either of them, it's only for DIIs.

As for what else the testbook can do, whatever you do, don't call the stealership and ask them as most of their techs dont' know!

I remember there used to be a complete listing of testbook options on disco2.com, but that site is gone.

One of the few things I had Robison do, when I bought my D2 from him was enable the fog lights to work with either high or low beam and to also turn off the "superlock" feature. I was afraid my kid might get stuck in the truck!
