I loved the LR2 when I first saw it in the showroom. I test drove one Friday with my Fiancee'. Then, for comparison, we test drove a RR HSE , 04' model. Certified preowned, for 8 grand more. My fiancee' actually liked the LR2 more. Lease price with lighting option and cold climate package was under 40k, US. On lease for 30 months, it worked out to under 600 per month. Probably will order one end of the year as my Xmas present to myself.

Dude...get the Range Rover...come on...LR2 vs. a Rangie? I just think the LR2 is ugly as hell...and I would rather roll around in a Range Rover than the LR2...but, honestly though, to each his own!

I love the looks of the LR2, "baby RRS" outside. RRS seats, RRS mirrors. But I do want the RR HSE. But when the fiancee' says she likes the 2 better, what are you going to do. I want her to say yes, going down the aisle, you know. LOL. Maybe the LR2 now, on Lease. And when my DII is paid off, the HSE for my new work truck. Hmmm...

I'd get the RR and trade in the girlfriend...she'll be telling you what to do, when to do it and who to do it with for the rest of your life or until divorce, whichever comes first.

Can't even think about doing that. When I blew the engine in my DII, on our first date; she was underneath the truck assessing the damage before me. Her RRC is more modded than my DII, and she has been off-roading in a series since she was a toddler. Besides, her Daddy owns GBR, so if I want to get new gears and axles at a reasonable price any time soon, dumping her would be a very bad idea. LOL.

Sounds like you are going to have to sell many Kilos of cocaine to afford that truck.

Hey now! I can't believe you suggested trading me in. He merely asked me which one I liked better. I didn't say he had to get the one I liked. But i'm a bit selfish I guess considering I want a 3" body lift and 35" tires before we get a new car.

Has anyone looked at the ford escape? Or mazda tribute?...or even the Mercury Mariner? Aren't these the same vehicle as LR2?

Go to the different websites and all these vehicles look like the same shape and of the same form....

Did you buy the LR2? Have pictures? First impressions?

Yep picked up last week and love it ! Actually its for my wife but i get to drive it quite a bit.basically a new truck from the ground up.I compare it to the D2 and a LR3 its that much change.More luxurious, power handling ect. Has all the toys the LR3 has and it has the RR seats wich are great.Should be reliable motor wise with an S80 volvo engine. Do not have pictures but LR has quite a few of them on their web site. You need to test drive one to see for yourself.

Got mine this past Sat and it's fantastic. I had a 2001 Disco ll which I really loved then a BMW X3. The LR2 came in at least 8 grand less than a comparable 2007 X3 plus it's a 2008! So between the desire for another LR and picking up a super, luxurious and sporty vehicle that competes well with the X3, this was a no brainer...

I'm glad to hear these reviews! I'm hoping to get one in the next year or so...will be a daily driver to give the Disco a rest.

I missed the dealership introductory event b/c of work...so I'm looking forward to seeing one in person and giving it a drive.

Ugh! I cannot believe anyone would buy that thing (LR2). That's not a LAND ROVER, that thing's a Joke!

Progress, my son. Progress. They can't keep building what we want. They have to build what the majority wants. And the LR2 does a better job of fitting the middle ground between Landy owners and corporate Land Rover than a lot of other newer models.

The same thing could be said of your Disco II compared to the Series Rovers of the early years....and the same could be said of the new Land Cruisers and FJ Cruisers compared to the old Fj40s. :)

In my opinion, it's more of a Rover than the Freelander was based on the quality, etc. But I'm not 100% yet since I haven't driven one. Nothing will replace or compare with my D1 and the RRC, but this is a nice compromise between new and old.

For what it is its great.Compare it with an X3 and its better.Has far has a land rover
they got of the game with the D2 and P38 that was a few years ago.Yes you can Modify
a D2 and a P38 but its a lot of electronics.Maybe one day they will import the Defender and then we will have a Land rover again.Until then theres no use saying you do not like them because you can't really compare anymore, now were talking daily drivers with a bit of light duty offroading.:)
