"I have even let one go for doing 150+ on LSD"

Good, that ass clown deserves the ticket.

"would like to nominate Officer Mike Buzan from Crete,IL as a "DICK." Recently Ofc Buzan wrote a Lansing,IL police officer. And of course this was after a rookie officer (Taylor) arrested a Lansing Police Officer's wife on a suspended license (Emissions)-And he has been talked to, and advised that we do not arrest or write cops or their wives."

Yup, theres a mafia. What a double standard crock of shit.

As a teacher, should I just pass another teacher's kid?

I see both sides, but if you are really well over the limit, stop whining and take the ticket.

Ahh the whole Us vs the citizens debate...like the Popo is something above the regular citizen...Thye do a job day in and day out...any day they can quit...unlike the military...who are the only ones who should be able to apply the civvie vs us thing, being as they are soldiers 24-7-365.

My 2 cents...take it for what it cost ya

I read through those BBS posts. Some are brutal towards other officers and i'm sure they do not tell the whole story. I can't imagine being one of the officers noted by name and badge number. Anyway, this is probably very similar to business giving big discounts/free business to other business friends/colleagues. Just a thought.

Every job has its perks.... You would think as a police officer you could get out of a speeding ticket... They have do have high speed training so them driving at a high rate of speed is less dangerous...

Business to business is one thing, but when we're talking about laws being broken, or putting others in danger because you're a stupid asshole (150mph LSD guy) then you should get put down. I see cops running the main road through town here which has a 35mph speed limit at well over 50 in both patrol cars and POV. Double standard bullshit.

A perk is one thing, breaking the law you are sworn to uphold is different. It's not exactly the same as giving your buddy extra cheese on his pizza and not charging him for it.
I've also got high speed training. Is it cool for me to speed?

Sure, just tell the cop you are trained at high speed driving. Im sure they will let you off. :D

Seriously. The whole idea of determing that laws are only to be enforced on the "civillians" is horse shit. Corruption stems from that kind of mind set.

Burns me up, which is one reason why when i see an unmarked popo on the highway doing 20 over with out lights i will snuggle right up behind him and see where he is going.

Will i get a ticket for doing that? I dont know, but i do reccord the licens plate and any other ID'ing info from the car just in case.

Most likely wont do me any good, but it makes me feel better.

I have Special Forces plates on my rover, the cops usually just pull next to me and gesture to slow down

I haven't seen any cops give the military a break in VA. But we do have a lot of shitheads in Yorktown that don't know how to act and probably deserve it.

Do you think he or she might be going on a call. Not all calls the police go on they are allowed to go with their lights on. But do you want him or her to rush to your house when your alarm is going off. He or she is not allowed per their agency to go lights on to the call. Or when your alarm goes off you can call the officer's agency and advise them no rush because you dont want him to speed to your home. that way it doesnt burn you up!!!!

Id have to say thats BS.

If an emergency vehicle is cruising down I40 doing 15-20 over the speed limit, miles away from the nearest exit, i cant believe they are responding to an emergency. Especially the marked cars.

Plus, what law enforcement agency in their right mind would prevent their officers from operating their vehicles with out their lights on at a minimum to alert the other traffic that they are passing. Thats purely a safety issue, plus it forces people to give right of way thus allowing an unimpeded route for the officer.

Cutting the lights and sirens when close to a "sensitive" situation i can understand, but not when you are traveling down a major highway and trying to "respond" to anything other than the end of the shift or the daily special at the doughnut shop.

Im not a cop, never have been, and dont want to be. But i do have several cop friends. I know what they do, and i have been with them when they do it. Dont try and use the whole emotional black mail of "how would you feel if your family needed the cops" bull shit.
