Lift options

I've been trying for almost two months now to connect with RTE and get a lift ordered without much luck. What other options are there besides OME. Not really considering them. I know Safarigard does/did sell a couple pretty good suspension kits. Any advice or should I just continue to wait for RTE since I know from everyone else's experience that it very well may be worth the wait (but hopefully not too much longer)?

I see many more broken OMEs than I do Bils, or even procomp, but alas there are many more of them out there.

I would never want to wheel hard with them they break at the eyelet weld in all the cases I have seen.

Some of it is likely user error and over tightening the bolts...

LOL....you've been trying to buy something for almost 2 months? I'd have given up at the end of day 1 and taken my business elsewhere.

Just go with OME and you'll be fine just so long as you don't "wheel hard" with them as gmookher noted. Just wheel like the rest of us and don't attempt any Heavy Duty Extreme things....leave that to the pros like gmmooker.

you can go to eshocks and buy bilstein 7100s like I did, reservoirs at all 4 corners feels nice, go 400/100 if you want stiff or the 360/80 is perfect. its been a year now and they are just starting to break in right and feel good, but I warn you, the 400 starts out stiffish

you can see if Bill at GBR can hook you up with OMEs, iirc he sells them as does like british pacific or atlantic or one of those

you can call Justin at Lucky8, I hear he has something new that I'm curious about myself..

I'm not knocking OME shocks, I just see more breakage, and I've been under impressed with the welds at the eyelets. YMMV, Blue and many are very happy with ome shocks-its by far the most popular/middle of the road longer/good value.

I justified the costs of the bilsteins by selling myself on their rebuildability and tunability, after messing with nitrogen pressures a bit its dialed in nice...

So I just bought "middle of the road" shocks...:(

I think gem's trying to say that we're all bi-curious about our suspended parts.

Make sure to ask for John and tell him I told you to ask him his day is going.

John especially likes it when you start off with "How's it hangin'" or "How are you today" and finish up with "Have a nice day".;)

You have to develop a relationship with your vendors and what better way to do that then to make small talk?

I love it when folks call me to talk Land Rovers, and so does John.

While you're at it, ask him to send me some more stickers.

shocks don't "break in", once you've got the set up correct, the ride shouldn't change. It's more likely your springs have settled...and please show example of broken OME shocks and they are more than capable of handling "hard wheeling"

John also like it when you ask him to sponsor your next expedition. If you put his EE stickers on your truck that should be good for at least 15% off your first order.

YOUR bilsteins may not break in, but the shocks on my truck have had a break in period. You have never rebuilt a shock it seems...the edges of the shims going in are not the same as when they come out, IE, they break in..LOL, thast totally flat and perfect when new, and when used theres a difference to top and bottom...sam eon my mountain bike, ATV etc

you are so full of yourself it's not even funny. I've been rebuilding shocks for 15 years Gem and when done correctly the performance doesn't change until something starts to break down. I just re-built a set of 5 year old 7100's on Thursday shithead and was able to re-use the entire shim/valve stack. There were no signs of wear or deforming on the edges of the shims. Every set I've done, which is about 20, the only time I had to replace shims was when they had a leak and heated so the edged warped.

So please explain all the broken OME you've seen? I seen more Bilstein with shot heims than OME with broken eye's...Pro comps, yes, I've seen 3 or 4, all on D1's
