Looks like a tombstone for Land Rover. The "Land" should be removed and quietly buried in a remote site in the Outback, Veldt, or Utah desert. Just call them Rovers or Kias or that most inspiring of tradition-filled names: Yugo. Forget the "Land". Bury it with dignity and sadness for a world passing away.

They are removing the "Land".

The sad part is, now every 16 year old brat and every Yuppie is now going to be able to buy a "Range Rover". It was bad enough with the Sport (which I have grown to like somewhat), but they are systematically getting rid of "Land Rover" in the US. I just don't understand why they have reason to believe that this competing with the LR2 is a good idea? They seem similiar to me...

Maybe the "Range Rover" will be the luxury side and the "Land Rover" will be its cheaper, back to basics, utilitarian cousin. that might not be bad...

buncha damn whores is what they are.

That won't change the dynamic of old Rover enthusiasts. There was a time when Toyota made the MR-2, the Celica, AND the Supra. They killed em all and now there's a Toyota in every driveway in America, but somehow the old Toyota enthusiasts soldier on.

I'd wheel the fuck out of the mall parking lot in that!

I got an invite from the LR dealer here in town to view it. I removed myself from the mailing list :smilelol:

On the up side I think that thing would probably go really fast and handle well since it is more ON than OFF road.
