I think I'm going to get the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors in 265/60/18. They're only .5" taller than stock, so no worries with rubbing. I can't trim due to the rear a/c. I've read some good reviews of them. Supposedly they clear out mud better than the BFG ATs, but that may not be saying much. One things for sure, they're a lot cheaper. :D

Is the load rating (109) enough for the LR3? The door stamp states a load index of 112 for 18" tires, I believe. I was thinking of the Silent Armors or the Yoko A/T-S myself; but have been holding-off because of their lower than spec rating.

I'm going to turn my LR3 in at the end of the 30 month lease (very high residual), and do not want to run afoul at the EOL inspection.

I put Toyo A/T's 285/60/R18's and they are working beautifully! No rub at all and will give you all the traction you need. As far as Sliders, A company called "Rasta" makes a great underbody and slider kit. I also have on my rig and with the independent suspension is a wise investment!

I tried those tires first but just had to go with the BFGs. The Toyos are great tires though. I just bought and installed the Rasta Rock Sliders over this past weekend!! They look great and I plan to get out and use them ASAP. I bought them from John and Ho over at Expedition Exchange!!

Yes, you can't do better than Jon and Ho! weren't you amazed how thick they are? I was skeptical until I installed them and saw how "beefy" they are.

Yes, Jon and Ho are the ultimate of "purveyor's of good's".
I was amazed how "beefy" they are after I installed them.
You'll love them!

I was surprised how beefy they are. Seem to be very well made.

Reelpain - where are you in SD? And where can I see more pics of your truck? It looks awesome in the little picture here!

This is the sizing I find when I compare the tires:

265/70/17 = 31.60 overall diameter
285/65/18 = 32.58 overall diameter

Explains why i'm shreading plastic wheelwells!! hahaha

I test fitted the bfg 285/65x18 but on full turn in, got a bad rub in the rear section of the front wheel wells, 3oclock if on drivers side. otherwise saw no problem under normal conditions. the "rub" is more of a full press against the steel boxing there by over 1/2" into the tire "corner"/shoulder.

did you adjust steering stops or just let the car trim the tire?

in the rear, AC lines can be rerouted so that will be next at the shop.lr3.progress-wiringmess.2.jpg
