Thanks. Definitely looks like it's not the modular motor which was massive and an underperformer in comparison to the Coyote.

This is kind of the way I thought it was. Weren't they running it in Indy open wheel cars before Ford bought the company?

Jaguar? They've never had a presence in Indycar and we're definitely not running this in F1.

The Jag prototype Sportscars of the 80's and 90's ran V12 heavily based of the street car version of the V12

I might be wrong, but it seems that the Brits are always running out of engines. And that is part of the reason that their automobile industry is declining.

How is that even possible?

Executive Meeting:
Chairman of Frame & Body Manufacturing: "We're going to produce 5,000 frames this month."
Chairman of Engine Procurement: "We're going to source 46 engines."
Chairman of Are You Fucking Kidding Me: "Great plan, guys! Let's go to the club for cocktails!"

Chairman of Engine Procurement: "We're going to source 46 engines from BMW, 2551 from Jaguar, 1320 from Ford, 953 from VM, and we might still have 130 of old Buick V8s left somewhere. The beauty of our plan is that the displacement, bore, and stroke of most of them is the same on paper, serial numbers intermingle, but not a single part is interchangeable."
Chairman of Are You Fucking Kidding Me: "Great plan, guys! Let's go to the club for cocktails!"
Corrected.
On the similar note, you guys may remember that JEEP used to be interpreted as "Just everyone else's parts."

I have a friend who used to work for LR that would agree with that.

I thought the 5.0 was just the AJ-V8 gen III with spray-guided direct-injection, continuously variable intake and exhaust camshaft timing.

You're saying the AJ-V8 was originally developed from a Ford engine?

The new v8 shares noting with the old ajv8

I had it a little wrong. Ford sourced the 4.0 for the Lincoln LS and ford thunderbird in the late 90's to 2000's. I'm fairly certain it was developed with jag before ford bought JLR. But the motor never made it past those two vehicles outside of JLR products.

The AJV8 is indeed a Jaguar engine. Ford just borrowed it a couple of times, and with fairly good results if you're willing to look past what your hairdresser's uncle's Internet buddy says.

I'd still have preferred further development of the AJ16, but I suppose it had it's run. No reason they can't bring it back, though, if they try hard enough. Aston could crank out a pretty sweet retro ride on the F-Type platform if they had a straight six to play around with.

Cheers,

Kennith

I need a barber, not a "hair stylist".
Fucking buzz cut.
Why can't the overly-tatooed & pierced ugly-ass bitches just do that right?
If I could reach the back of my head, I'd do it my own damned self.

"Hi, I'm ambrosia & I'll be your stylist"
"Wait, you're named after that dessert with mini marshmallows & orange bits? Did your mom not like you?"
Prolly shouldn't have said that before she "styled" my hair.

I need one a dem old fellas, wit da white jacket & a razor strop.

Are we talking about the same 5.0? Is the old LR4 5.0 a different engine than the current supercharged 5.0 in the Range Rover?

Range Rover is the new Bentayga, Discovery is the new Range Rover, and Defender will be the new Discovery. It's the Defender that's dead. Wait and see what happens with the upcoming Discfender.

I do cut my own damned hair my own damned self. Wife bought me a professional grade Oster clipper several years back. That thing paid for itself long ago. The only problem I ever had was when I wasn't paying attention and attached the #000 guard instead of my usual #2 guard. A few sweeps in I realized how short I was going but couldn't stop at that point. Barring this user error, it's been perfect. With the right mirror placement it's easy to do a good job.

Sorry, were we talking about V8 engines?
