The last real porsche was made in 1998 (993 cab).

Land rover still makes real land rovers, we just can't buy them new from the dealer here.

Everyone makes really cool stuff that we just can't get. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in Mexico, they were still producing the original Beetle until very recently.

Either way, there are loads of vehicles out there that we can't have. Even if we can have them, we can't have the cool options. Ford has always had some really slick vehicles overseas, and we don't get them.

As an example, the Escort didn't have to suck. The Focus didn't have to suck, either.

Now, that's new all over, but Ford has always had that capability. We just never saw it here. They had a wonderful habit of beefing up many of their models in Europe.

This is what we had:

This is what they had:

Of course, there is Toyota:

This is what we had:

This is what they had:

Mercedes had that SUV that I can't spell. It was expensive, but not a 120 grand luxury vehicle like the one we got.

GM finally gave us a taste of it's overseas ventures with the new GTO.

Nissan is a no-brainer:

This is what they had:

And... Well, we just didn't get anything like it.

There is no end to this, and it's just not fair.

Cheers,

I always thought the 924 engine was out of a truck in Europe. Very similar to a Audi 100 engine. Wow what a gutless POS. That same engine was also put in some of those little USPS mail trucks(jeep things).

The 911 is perfect. Porsche sells every car they build. Why fix it if it aint broke. The Panemera really is groce and I'm sure that fucker Piech is behind it. I'm confidant it will be accepted in coming years.

That is correct, the 924 engine was an Audi truck engine in Europe.

Furthermore, the 924, 944 and later 968 were made for Porsche by Audi at their Ingolstadt plant.

Now that Porsche and VW are the same company, the Panamera is planned to be discountinued in 2014. I think that is good-let Porsche concentrate on sports cars and Audi do the sports sedan.

The Cayenne will probably continue at the Porsche Leipzig plant (Panamera is also manufactured there) as it is making money for Porsche. Remember it was jointly designed with the VW Tourag (and now shares the platform with the Audi Q7). As long as SUV sales justify it, the Cayenne will probably be with us.

I think you're referring to the Gelandewagen. It has 3 manual locking differentials. The versions available in the rest of the world are more utilitarian and less bling than the ones we got in the USA, they are popular as overlanders in southern Africa. They are actually made by Steyr in Austria, I think. Very nice vehicles, I'd love to have one as a third truck in my fleet after my Rover and a 70-Series Cruiser.

I rode in a Gwagen cabrio at Tellico, it was bone stock and ran school bus, helicopter pad, guard rail, basically the gamut and I was very impressed. It was like a frog it just hopped up everything.
