I had the Stealership in Charlotte mess up my brakes repeatedly. When I finally found what they had done (I was in the Seattle Dealership at the time) I called LRNA directly, and insisted that the Charlotte Dealer pay for the repairs in Seattle. They got me a check, and I am done with the issue. The dealer should have reimbursed me for all of the brake "repairs" they made that weren't really repairs. I think the dealer you are dealing with sounds pretty reasonable, even by your own words. Also, what is the value of a good relationship with them going forward? I'll bet that if you keep your Rover, it will outwiegh your estimated damages.

A little perspective:

Your personality must be tending toward perfectionist, judging from your occupation - CNC .

You are moving to a new home, getting a divorce, and you are worried about a "perceived" depreciation of your vehicle. Where are your future costs going to be greater?

I have to ask, if you didn't have relatives who are attorneys, would you even consider all of this? If you had to go to a lawyer out of the phone book, would you think it worth it to pay him/her?

Have you considered small claims court? The upper value limit in NC is around $5,000.00. Do you think they took more than that in value?

I'm not trying to attack you, or minimize how you feel about your truck, after all I can't see a future not driving my D1. It has saved my wife's life twice in two different accidents, and still is a great vehicle, even with its' current issues.
I just think it's not all that important in the grand scheme of things. Sort of the,"Don't sweat the small stuff" kind of idea.

Brockflock, wow. Objective thinking around here is not something that runs rampid. Good points all of which have been taken into consideration.
The entire thing is done and over.
The relatives that are lawyers, are not actually realtives, they are my brothers through our Fraternal order. I would have to pay them too. I am not sure about the small claims court limit.

Draaronr, I will definatley sell my truck to you for $12k . I just have to ask one tiny favor from you. I have some close and personal friends down in Puerto Asis, Columbia S.A. I will pay for the puddle jumper plane ride from wilmington to Col. I hope you do not mind, not getting above 1000ft. Its better that way! So anyways go meet Fat Tony, Fast Eddie, and Crazy Al in Bogata. They will probably insist on you driving into Peurto Asis from there. Its ok, they pay the Policia so no worries. Once you are into their compound, they will give you keys to a Series. Heres my small favor, Drive it back to raleigh turn it over to me. I will have title to my truck waiting for you. Thats it.... see very small favor

damn man, did you have to ruin it for me, lol. I have driven probably 3000 miles on the Cayenne Turbo all paved roads.

The only Cayenne's that run hard off road were in the Tran-Syberian Ralley that Porsche promotes on their world web site - pretty sweet when they're modded to hell but off the US lot, I think not for any real trails. We had the beefier VW Touareg V10 Diesel version for a year... yeah it was awesome in the torque-monster dept but 5" max rear wheel travel...it has the opposite of traction and I'm not sure why all the Touareg guys like to take photos of one or more wheels in the air - any silly car with no wheel travel will do that, it's only showing off the inability of the design which has to made up for in sheer power and/or momentum, which the Syberian rally drivers tend to make the most of - looks totally cool but do you have a support vehicle with mechanics follwoing to repair the stuff you break?

Jeese, not to mention the cargo and passenger volume reduction ot less than that of a VW passat! The Porsche or the Touareg is kind of silly large small burly car, not an SUV, not an off road machine. It's perfect for US long highway trips sure, but too bad you can't run at 120 mph here like they were designed to do non-stop.

Keep your lr3 and try an Audi ;) we got a V8 S4 wagon and I just replaced the downpipes and full exhaust with high flow - it's so awesome - faster than the Cayenne and with just as much cargo space.

Jwest, thanks.
I frequent the Audi dealership. I havent driven the S4. I have a TT already. I like the 1.8t,but blew the impellar on water pump and inturn the head gasket and it warped the head. All the damages and new timing belt were $3277. I hope to have it traded by April of next year. I will drive S4, I think the S5 is a sharp car too. Cary audi has 2 R8's... BADASS!!! one is used and other an 09. I drooled the entire time I was there. does the S4 only come with the 4.2. I made the mistake of jumping on an RS4 with my TT. HE waxed my ass. The RS4 has the the 4.2 i think.. Ive done a few things to my car.. chip, div valve. resonator delete... no match for the 4.2. I have beaten few Mustangs and one Corvette... none of them hooked up off the line that was the only advantage I had. I was messing around with a vette when I blew the impellar.. the 1.8 was screaming at 155 mph.
anyways not an audi forum, so I better stop.

If everyone only talked about rovers here, there would be half as many posts and threads ;) It's your thread so talk about what you want.

Before getting the S4 wagon we owned:
2007 bmw 328 wagon, rear w drive, 6 spd, sport pkg, hanged on corners with staggered 8" +9" 19" wheels but lacked power. fun but a little weak. sold it. before that had an 07 subaru outback 3.0 wagon, loaded, fun but boring by comparison. before that an 06 bmw M roadster - lots of fun but to small.

We test drove before the Audi S4 wagon (all wagons):
1. Audi a4 2.0 T 6 spd, too slow, too soft, too boring too much whine of the 4 cyl.
2. SAAB 93 sport combi 3.0 Turbo, manual, wagon, loaded with Turbo-X engine, suspension, and drivetrain package. it was RED, it was sweet but then we drove the 3. S4 Wagon, actually to the SAAB dealer on our 2nd test drive of both of them.
4. We also drove a manual subaru 2.5T XT. and sat in the WRX STI but it felt cheapish...compared to Audi or BMW or course.
5. 06 porsche CS4 - simply made anything else feel silly but the coupes were just too small. Also drove an RS4 but again, not a wagon, no full size spare either.
6. bmw 535xiT (turbo straight 6 wagon, Dinan software nets 384hp, manual is available) Not as sporty as the Audi and in the build I'd want, $70k, cushy as hell for road trips though.
7. VW Passat 4motion, also loaded, nice car, ...not a sports car by any means though.
8. Volvo v50 turbo, manual. sort of like the 2.0 T audi, a little peppy but no depth and soft handling and a little cheap on build/materials.

The SAAB and S4 were the top contenders, the SAAB you'd think much cheaper, and with cash, yes but not with financing as the audi .9 apr made up for the cheaper saab on std rates of 5.75% or so. the cost diff was only in the $10k range then and the audi seemed like more worth it in the long run. The saab had full size spare and tuning options but it's hard to beat the feel of a V8 in a car. The 4.2 has been so refined and proven too. Lot's of mods available from many makers as well.

The S4 Wagon is a 6 spd manual, has full size spare, loaded with nav, ipod, cd, dvd, bluetooth phone, Recaro sport seats, and aftermarket integrated reverse camera, latest gen 9500ci laser and radar jamming Escort, stealth install. High bias center differential that provides 4:1 ratio as per throttle input, and a mean as hell full exhaust system. Chips are made for the 4.2 that bring it up to about 350hp and a few mpg increase and there is a supercharger kit that takes the 4.2 v8 up to 440+hp...beyond the Rs4 and M3, unless of course one of those is chipped or SC'd.

I had a custom class II 2" hitch made that is rated to 3500 lbs as well, mainly for bike carrier but the occasional small trailer too.

The A5/S5, well, it's cool but that's if you want a coupe. The next gen S4 is a little boring with the 6 cyl turbo and no manual trans. S4 Avants can be had for $7000-$8000 or so discounts too and ours was also .9 % apr for 60 mo. The Arlington dealer had a couple S4 avants and said a few were on the east coast. Not many are out there and it's the last of it's kind. I had to have the 6 spd. You can't get that in the next S4 wagon.

No kidding... I just picked up an '03 TT 1.8t for the wife, and that thing has been at Audi in Cary on a lift more than it has been on the road. :banghead:

It was using coolant, so I took it in figuring it was a head gasket - turned out to be the head, and had the guys up at Audi replace the timing belt while they were there. Next, it developed a bad vibration on acceleration, and took it in to have both front axles replaced. Ran good for about 2 days, and now there's a funny sound coming from the turbo as it spools - not a whining sound, but a "flabbering" sound (awesome description, I know) - maybe a boost leak from a hole in an intake pipe or something. I already checked the diverter valve, and it's ok.

But man, I feel your pain on the Audi TT. Maybe we just got lemons, lol. And I thought the Audi was going to be the reliable car and the Rover was going to be in the shop all the time

The earlier models had more troubles from what I've read on the Audizine forum or vwvortex.

The 3.2 TT was awesome, we drove that and a bmw 135 coupe, both 6 spds, both fun, both too small.

There are too many cool cars out there.
