LR3 Fatigue

Back for my semi annual griping on the LR3. Still a good vehicle for the most part. Put some new Toyos on early this year and replaced tie rods. Drives great. Still, some nagging issues have arisen, chasing an intermittent coolant weep from the radiator along with some other CELs. With newborn at home (and it being my DD) it’s become a little more inconvenient. The easy answer is to part with it and get a D5. It really meets all my 4x4/camping/dog hauling vehicle needs (besides the recurring small issues). I’m really trying to justify keeping it and getting a sedan/wagon to DD, plus better mpg and lower car payment. We have an XC90 that is our road trip car with extended factory warranty so I don’t see the need for two new large SUV’s. Thoughts?
Skip the D5. Since Jan of this year we're in for;
-HPFP
-Fuel pressure reg x2
-Rear sunroof shade
-Memory sear module

And heading in Thursday for Driver and Passenger window regs, O2 sensor & coolant leak that I'm pretty sure is the Y pipe under the supercharger.

Neither my D2 or D3 give me a quarter of the trouble this one has.

That really sucks. What year is this toilet? How many miles? I’m curious about all these complaints and now both front window regulators? Makes me think it did or still does have a water leak from the windshield. The damage the water does is amazing and all starts with some of your issues. The electrical stuff anyway. The fuel pumps sound like somebody misdiagnosed some shit and you’re going for the ride.
Ask to get traded out of the piece of shit. If you bought it new you might be surprised how well you can do. It’s hard to argue that you don’t have something coming.

2018 hse lux Si6 picked it up coming out of a lease at 44k mi.

HFPF and Fuel Regs x2 was JLR answer to an engine cut out issue, about 500 miles after taking ownership. Happened once randomly then 5x day later while trying to get it 60 miles to dealership. They had it 27 or 28 days, started with HFPF then moved on to FPR at the back end of the time in their hands. Warranty work then so, I acted optimistic. Sunroof shade was backordered and also warranty work so that was to be attended at a later date.

At about 54k and a month ago, drop it for sunroof shade replacement and oil change while there. Got it back and about a week later CEL for o2 on b2s1 I believe. We were headed out of town so we took the LR3 and left the D5. Came back few days later coolant low message. Topped with XLC and looked like the union in the Y coolant pipe next to oil filter has residue of orange coolant. Got another coolant low message about 5 days later and booked an appointment.

All along the window regs had been making some racket, but they worked so I didn't prioritize them as I have a d2 and d3, so I'm always tinkering with something. Well low and behold passenger window bird nested the wire and wouldn't close more than 1/2 way. With rain on the way, I pulled the door card and trimmed down as much wire as possible, then took some heat shrink and put it over. It pulled it closed at least, then promptly snapped the wire.

So yeah, DS side still works but I know the string is stranding by the sound. So we're gonna go ahead and get both done under warranty hopefully. At min PS side and we'll come back for DS when it goes.

My opinion after looking at the window setup, there's no bonding or coating to the wire it seems. So naturally a stranded wire pulled over pulleys back and forth will force the strands apart. Seems like a dumbass design that was gonna fail.

Oh seat memory unit went somewhere around 50k, which reminds me I need to tell them to warranty that too hopefully.

Lease was out of Miami, FL. Paperwork was left behind in glovebox. Well off older couple with a few homes in the area, so I doubt it was neglect. I'm guessing the Florida humidity wrecked a little havoc on the window units and maybe memory unit. Otherwise seems we've avoided the windshield leaks or they've been fixed. Not many issues aside the above but still, entirely too many for this mileage and age and in 6 months only.

I am in contact with LRNA hoping to garner something out of this ridiculousness. Our service advisor at the JLR dealership we've been using mentioned the issues and quantity of issues we've been experiencing were above and beyond any other D5 she's had come through.

I was at the dealer the other day and I ended up talking about LR3s with a service tech. He said the highest mileage he’d seen so far was 275k miles.

Highest mileage brought into the dealership is most certainly on the low end of the high mileage scales?

Ouch. My LR4 needed new front sway bar bushings and a new (used) front diff 2 weeks ago. Now the AC is going out but luckily it's only been 115 to 119 degrees here every damn day here in Scottsdale.

Not sure. Once the mileage gets that high they go to the dealership cause the electrical gremlins and odd problems get past the independent guys.
I just looked at a car last week that some poor bastard tried to program a t case because of a software incompatibility code stored. The last step of that software download is a calibration of the t case. Now the car is almost a brick because the t case won’t calibrate. There’s a handful of reasons that might be. But the guy who owns the car is on some message board and asking about all kind of problems that don’t pertain to his vehicle or the problem at hand. I walked away. That car has 170,000 ish miles.

That sucks. Educate yourself about how that compressor works. If the refrigerant has leaked out then look close at your condenser. If it’s full of refrigerant then a couple things could have happened to the compressor. First and hopefully is the little pressure valve on the backside of the compressor. The other is the shaft breaks inside the unit.

You can buy better but you can’t pay more. Land Rover

My compressor died around 170k miles, it's the first expensive repair I've had.

Other than that, I damaged my radiator, but that was my fault, I replaced my front wheel bearings, and I replaced my suspension compressor.

I'm joining the fatigue.

Got the D5 back after 21 days in the shop. Window regs, 02 sensor, memory control, headliner rattle, coolant leak that ended up with inlet/outlet pipes water pump tstat and other associated gaskets.

Picked it up on Tuesday, didn't feel right. Louder idle, small tick, coolant smell and a nice bearing whirl to top it out. Sent in a video on Thursday and just got the call. They're sending a tow truck to pick it up, to be on the safe side.

However the rotted D2 and $2500 D3 trudge forward without hassle.

Tell them you want to be traded out of it.

LOL...I was shopping Broncos this morning.
Wouldn’t touch a Bronco until they get the oil pump issue resolved. From what I’ve seen doesn’t seem like a simple updated part or small design fix either

Yeah, I haven't even made it far enough to worry about the various problems with Broncos, other than the obvious tie rod issues. I don't really see myself in another Ford truck but they do look like fun.

For Bronco money I’d rather be in a ZR2 Silverado with the 3.0 diesel.

about to hit 84k on mine, plenty of life left.
