I have a complete rear output housing for my LT230SE w/ good bearings/seals that I am going to swap in tomorrow. In the photo below (For a Defender LT230T) item number 2 in the attached drawing is a gasket. My DII Workshop Manual makes no mention of this gasket and only mentions Hylosil 102 RTV for that flange.

Anyone know for sure what I'm going to find once I get in there? Do I need to pickup a gasket before I start the job?

Thanks,
Craig

Thanks PT. Looking closely, the rebuilt one I have has a bit of RTV on it and it is mating to an LT230SE so it it sounds like I won't need the gasket. I'll pick up some Right Stuff. Thanks for the tip! :)

Now I just need to figure out if the rear output housing I have in my hand will fit the newer LT230SE I have in the truck.

Craig

The only danger of it not fitting would be if one were an LT-230 T and the other and LT-230 R. The T model used tapered bearings and the earlier ones used roller bearings.

I'm assuming you're putting this in a DI, if so, don't forget the shaft that has the parts to mate to the VSS.

Cheers,
PT

Thanks again.

It's going into a 99 D2. I'm trying to figure out what LT230 the complete output housing I have in my hand came out of right now... waiting for a reply to my e-mail. :)

Gracias!
