While I am still tracking down the leak, I found mixed opinions on Lucas PS stop leak here.

Is this the one that we are talking about?

The Lucas stuff is kind of thick.

I have read someone only put half a bottle and it fixed the internal leak or leak from the drop arm seal (not the leak from the hose clamps, of course) and it didn't leak for 6 years.

Others said the stop leak damaged the PAS pump or even the entire PS system immediately.

Just want to see how many people actually used it and their results. If you used it, how much did you put in? Did you change out the old fluid in the reservoir first? Did you change out as much old fluid in the system as possible before putting the stop leak in?

If you are using ATF as your PS fluid...don't do it. If you are using PS fluid, it should work. I have heard too many "fail" reports when added if using ATF. It reacts with the ATF and saw one D1 where the hoses literally "fell" off the fittings.

I used it a while back when my PS pump had a slow leak and noise.. It only made it worse! I ended up replacing the pump. I would NOT recommend it.

Using the Lucas and PSF with brand new box, pump and lines. I used it to prevent problems in the future, and it hasn't caused any in the present.

Most Lucas products are marginal at best. Lots of sizzle no steak !

It's not going to fix a larger leak. That being said, I used it in the wife's ACE and both of our PS pumps (both 99 d2's) just to quiet them down, not for leaks. Worked great.

I used it on my ACE as well, Again.. it changed the noise, but not any quieter. I found the best way to quiet the ACE is to remove it ;)

I did a flush of both systems (add, run, remove, add, run, remove, etc....) and then put a WHOLE bottle into each system. Quieted the ACE down like crazy and only on the coldest mornings was there a couple of seconds of protest from the PS pump on start-up. Both ran for 5 years without fail before we sold it. Mine's still going strong (PS). Like anything else, everyone's experience differs. That's just mine.
