M/B dealer smoking crack!

So my Brother in Law takes his Gelandewagen to the dealer to have them look at the leaking swivel balls...

I cannot believe they told him that leaking swivel ball grease is not cause for concern and is normal. Remember, the Germans are the people who made the trains run on time.

Then he asked them about rust prevention beneath the truck. They told him "there is nothing you can do to prevent rust under this truck, it will not rust"!

What are they smoking?

This is the same guy whose Rangie had the CVs grenade because a M/B dealer told him there was no reason to be concerned about the leaking swivel balls!

ARGH, how can I compete with such incompetence?

Well....as long as you keep refilling the swivel balls, leaking isnt so bad! At least THEY wont rust as a steady stream of sealant courses over them!

I am surprised. I thought you were going to say they wanted to charge $10k to fix the, not that they would argue you SHOULDNT fix them!

Besides, any M/B dealer in the US is NOT a good representative of German engineering, or work ethic. They are in the US. At best, a caricature of German lifestyle.

Perhaps you should add MB Gwagons to your service offerings. When the MB dealership's customers realize they were given bad advice, they'll be looking for someplace else to go.

What year G-Wagon? it was only a few years agon that MB stopped designing thier seals TO leak. Why did he take a Rangie to the MB dealer in the first place?

The G-wagen is a 2004 or 2005.

He bought the Rangie from the M/B dealer. When his front end grenaded, he refused to go back and demand they fix it, in spite of their telling him they knew "all about Land Rovers" yet did not check the swivel oil level.

Even if they were "designed" to leak, shouldn't one be checking the oil level and making sure it was sufficient?

Dude they aren't smoking anything but "greed"...

what do you think makes them more money... replacing swivel ball gasket or replacing a grenaded CV joint because it ran dry....:banghead:
