They have ceased to be.

Dealing with Rovers North about Mantec and they said Mantec ceased operations. Their website is down too. If your wanting something better get it now while someone has it in stock.

Could try to find a Southdown snorkel stateside or order from the U.K. Not as slick as the Mantec but a hell of an improvement over the ARB mess on the fender

My wife ordered from EE but they are backordered.....will probably never see any more if Mantec is truly gone. I inquired into stock from a UK company. I'll have to check out Southdown too. I just cannot abide by that ARB mess on the fender.

That wasn't about the mantec snorkel cutout template was it? Because I emailed a copy of that for you.

But yes, it's true. One of the best Rover suppliers is no more, can't believe it with how much we sold.

The markets got to be dwindling fast. How many people are buying off road accessories for Rovers these days?

D1s and D2s are >14 years old and I don't think there are too many people off roading their $70k SUVs

Sad but true??

On the contrary... over the last several years, each year has been better than the last. That is impressive considering the large boom of people buying direct from the UK, Lucky8 growing, AB growing, SHP growing, etc. The market is growing, not dwindling

It's as surprising to me as it is to you... I think a lot of it has to do with ROW imports and the values of NAS trucks increasing. People are spending $200k on Defenders, which I can't imagine happened 15 years ago, although I was not involved with them then.

If it's any metric, DiscoWeb sign-ups are stronger than ever. When I took over, we got maybe 5-10 new sign-ups a week. We're probably doing 30+ a week now, and these are legit owners, not spam accounts. I don't know if it's the continued rise of the $500 Disco owner or if people are getting interested in these trucks again (Discos becoming vintage) but the interest is way up.

Bummer about MANTEC. I wonder what happened.

I'll bet Mantec just reorganized and will have product again, maybe under a slightly different name.

Hey disco photo. Appreciate the help on the template. Hopefully get to install soon. Didn't see a post on Mantec so wanted to share. Glad to hear the sales are going well. Rovers North has always been a big help for me.

LR3s are pretty cheap. They are very boring, but the ExPo crowd seems to love them.

I've been getting more comments on my pretty non descript D2 lately. With most cars being generally the same shape these days the Discos do stand out.

Why have a new all-plastic bubble car which looks like every other one, when you can get a cheap truck at the height of engineering before plastic and aerodynamics took over, then spend the $ you saved, refitting and have something that does the job as well or better?? Who needs aerodynamics while crawling over trails? The only thing they have now is better mpg, but what good is that when you have to pay double the upfront cost for diesel over gas? Or when hi tech fails on the trail, and is too complex to make field repairs? The market is sadly being driven by soccer moms and upscale lux. We have to make our own UTILITY vehicles which the throw-away economists hate. That's why AB, Lucky and others are doing better; there are more of us than I thought, and that's a great thing! Viva la revolution! :applause:

I think if interest is going up it's because the price point has dipped into a new market. Like a kid in high school can get one for $500. When I bought my first Disco it was a 3 year old '96. I remember telling some higher up yuckity yuck I would buy one when they got under $10,000. He got a little butt hurt and said I would be waiting a while.

I ended up paying 13 for the 3 yr old truck because of a perfect storm of issues with the truck. It was a lease return that some dumbass miled out to 67,000 miles. (36 is the agreement). It had sticking valves, a wicked bad leaking rear main, and a tire that would shake for the first few miles then smooth out. The tire made people think something worse was going on. But since it was miled out none of that was covered under warranty.
