Because constantly broken power windows sucks......sometimes buyers buy these to drive and not jwve an additional hobby or career working on them.robertf said:

These two statements are completely contradictory. I can't imagine a more time, resource, or labor-intensive project on a Rover than doing a diesel engine conversion and transmission swap.
Unless I stated that i don't like to work on mine it is in no way contradictory.some owners not me per say I like fiddling and modifying always have always will.:victory:Tugela said:

I am looking to keep mine simple. I have some issues with power windows on my 98 D1 and would like something that stands less of a chance getting stuck in the down position during a rain storm or forces me to use AC in the summer when they are stuck in the up position.

I have several trucks with, or nearing 200K miles and I've only had to replace window regulators once, maybe twice on any of them-and, if you're breaking things constantly, aren't you pretty good at replacing the regulators by now?
The parts to go manual are not universally available and are pretty expensive.
