:p You know, I was stuck on the idea of Garrett flaunting his "Lil Ulapoka" running around the camp in a grass skirt, Now fight club too......Forget offroading at MAR, lol. Grass skirts and brass knuckles are the way to go!!

I'm not the speaker for the Phillyrovers group, and as far as I can tell, there ain't a soul in the group that's not hospitable to a fault, so I'll pass along a global invite to all to swing by the Phillyrovers Site and say hello, meet the parents, and consider a smoked rib or two.

Don't ask where we'll be, something tells me it'll be fairly obvious. FWIW, I'd like a close-up of the ugly-ass bumper.

Are you taking the series or the DII?

With the rain coming- keep an eye on the river levels:
http://ahps.erh.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ahps.cgi?rnk&brev2&printable

The James River starts up in the mountains near the Western border of VA... with the rain starting today from other weather systems and the hurricane coming into the Gulf, it could get nasty. The rains will likely follow the mountains (well, not bigguns like the Rockies) and all the feeder streams will feed a LOT of water into the James.
If the rains are heavy, count the island out.

Hey Neal, check your inbox.

Chuck, not sure yet, series is more fun overall. I'd like my wife to use the D2 and take one of the beginner courses...still working on that. What about Eric B? BTW, send me your email, I've lost it.

See you guys,
Mike

I was looking through that web site and didn't see a historical graph so I could try and figure that out. When I was there a couple weeks ago, the causeway was about a foot above the water level. If the river is more that slightly over the causeway, it's not passsable. 6-8 inches of moving water is about the most you can do over the causeway before it gets too dangerous- last year was about that deep.
I'm looking for more info. The hurricane from last year was a much different situation, but the one this year may potentially have more flooding if it dumps on the mountains.

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/marfc/fop/

those pages should be updated as the hurricane changes things. If the island is unavailable, that would suck. So far, they don't seem to be predicting any problems.

I am registered.....bringing the lightweight and my dog, Neo.

I hope we can connect, it's always nice to meet another lightweight owner. Next year I'm planning on taking more vacation time and drive mine up.

Ditto Tom, my eta is Thurs. I was thinking about trailering it with the disco but since I've got my fairey in, it moves along quite nicely. Now, let's hope the mechanicals hold up. :)

With yet another hurricane formed... here's a hypothetical:
If the forecast for MAR was constant rain and wind etc (not really hurricane stuff, but maybe remnants of one) would you still go and tough it out?

I don't know, that would mean lots of mud. That'd be a terrible thing! :D

I have tarps, stakes, poles and rope, you bet I'll be there come hell or high water!

Ok, if the James is high enough to flood the registration area I probably won't make it. ;)
