I have ordered a used master cylinder for my 1996 Discovery. I am putting it it tonight.
Does anyone have any advice? Are there any other o-rings or such I need to order? Also, is it necessary to "bench bleed" the master cylinder. I believe this might be harder because it is used. I do have a Motive Bleeder. What pressure should the bleeder be at?

I changed mine about a year ago with a used one, I just bolted it in, filled it up and drove, no problems. Took 15 minutes. Then in spring I did all new pads and flushed the hole system, helped a little. I faintly remember dropping an o-ring that I didn't notice until I started truck and had a vacuum leak. So keep an eye out for o-ring when you remove old cylinder

one at a time Dan. Lets let Nick fix his timing, then maybe we can find a "my truck makes a squeek, what could it be?" thread to argue about.

My pedal felt good and solid, brakes worked great. Didn't see the need to waste time bleeding all the lines for nothing.

Thank you for the feedback it came with a new "O" ring (Thank you Will Tillery)
I'll give it a shot tonight and bleed the brakes since I have the wheels off I will bleed the system.

I'll probably get roasted but who cares. I can see this rationalizing. Especially since the MC is the highest point in the system. If you introduce air at the highest point then bleeding should be easy and maybe only consist of filling the MC and letting it sit for any residual air to escape. This is all theory of course, haven't tried it.
Whadya think Dan?

i used a used mc. its was a fresh pull and still leaking fluid when i reistalled it, a new/reman mc should be bench bled and probably a used one too. i didn't, mine was fine but maybe i was lucky
