I have been doing some research for a megasquirt install on a BMW V12 engine and I found this.

http://www.msruns.com/viewtopic.php?t=22468

this guy has installed and worked out the specifics to install MegaSquirt on rover engines and guess what?...they are getting better mileage to boot:cool:

I have threatened this in vane a number of times over the the engine bay of a rover :D Glad to see if I ever came to it I wouldent have to be the first one through it.

I ditched the factory computer on my Focus years ago and never looked back. I'm running a Pectel T2, but I did consider the Megasquirt back then. However, it wasn't as well developed in 2001 which is why I didn't do it.

Going stand alone is a HUGE learning curve and not to be attempted unless you REALLY know what you're doing or have somebody to teach you. It's nothing like tuning carbs and distributors. But it's also very rewarding. Some cars come with horrible tuning from the factory. I think a lot of them get shipped with "good enough".

I can't claim to have improved the milage of the car, but I do achieve the same milage as stock even after removing the EGR and doubling the output.

Also, be wary of dyno operators. You'd think they're are experts, but many of them are clueless. If all they do is drag race cars, then all they can do is tune the idle, and full throttle.

LOL...actually I think all the time I have spent on rovers has taken me backwards, before i got into these bricks I was writing my own maps putting forced induction on BMWs.

I actually debated dropping the V12 into a rover a few years ago...but with the direction gas is going that aint happening:(

Fridgefreezer on the Pirate board has done it several times and will wear you down singing the praises of MS.

The 3.9 in my Disco has a GEMS flywheel in anticipation of "Someday" going MS. the 4.2 that is finally getting built may have a crank trigger on the front pulley.

One of the few things I don't like about the MS system is that it doesn't seem to be easily interfaced with the Rover IAC arrangement.

this guy had no problem with the IAC, In fact he is running the MSII with 8 step downs in IAC position...as MS gets advanced this stuff will only get easier.
